Bundles of Talent..

Basking under the sun of glory, these bundles of talent deserve the best. From time to time they have proved that they can show variety in whatever roles they are given. These divas make the movie watchable with their sparkling performance and the audience walk out of the cinema hall with quite a hangover of the characters that they have portrayed. My Best list in the current breed of actresses are : (Please don’t go by the numbers)

Kajol

This immensely talented daughter of yesteryears actress Tanuja entered the film industry with her film Bekhudi. Initially not appreciated by the audience due to her dark looks, even Baazigar did not do any wonders for her, she made a promising comeback with the movie “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”. And from there there was no looking back for her. Inspite of very normal looks, she sparkled brighter and brighter with every performance. Her simplicity and innocence did earn her many fans.

Loved her in : DDLJ, Pyaar to Hona hi Thaa, Udhaar ki Zindagi, Bekhudi, Ishq, Dushman, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain…

Madhuri Dixit

Nobody realized this actress till Ek Do Teen Chaar… “Tezaab” and N Chandra gifted us this wonderful and talented performer to Bollywood. With no God Father backing her she has struggled a lot to be where she is now. From Abodh to Devdas, you get to see her talent and her passion towards her profession. She has amazed us by doing a second lead in Devdas wherein she clearly steals the show from under the nose of her co-stars. No wonder why Sanjay Leela Bhansali waited for ages to work with her. Acting has been quite natural with her. She involves herself completely with the character that she is playing and gives the ultimate performance for the audience to feel that nobody could have done better than her. As acting has been natural to her so has dancing. She has proved to be the best dancer that bollywood could ever have. She is loved and admired even more for her dance numbers which are real catchy and are favourites in any dance shows. And now a film “Mein Madhuri Dixit banna chahti hoon” Do I need to say or write anything else?

Loved her in : Tezaab, Prahaar, Dil, Sailaab, Dil to Paagal Hain, Saajan, Devdas and many more …

Tabu

The younger sibling of actress Farha, entered the film industry with “Prem”. Unfortunately this film did take ages to get released and her film “Vijaypath” did rock the box office where she did a very catchy dance number “Ruk Ruk …arre baba Ruk”. She did get noticed but the credit did go to Ajay Devgan. She was not here in Bollywood to just do glamour roles. She was here to do something different. Her caliber as an actress proved with the film Maachis by Gulzar. She dared to do offbeat films and she was appreciated by her fans. Then it was Hu tu tu, Filhaal, Astitva..and many more which proved her acting prowess and Tabu was here to stay in the hearts of her fans. I really loved the light comedy that she did in “Biwi No. 1” I simply loved her in that. But sadly missed some of her brilliant performances. Above all She has a respectable place in the industry much above than her sister.

Loved her in : Astitva, Maachis, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya, Maachis and many more. …

Juhi Chawla

I loved her from the days of “QSQT”. Her bubbly chirpy nature and innocence turned me on and made me her die hard fan. Her style of rendering the dialogues was so polite and courteous that anybody can fall in love with her. She became popular with her 2nd film, the first one being a major disaster. Her earthy appeal synchronizes very well with her emotions. She is also equally very natural in her performance with whom everyone can relate to. To me she seems like any girl-next-door. She has this magnetic charm which can attract the attention of the audience easily. Mostly she is seen performing simple roles rather than glamour roles and all I can say is she has done all her roles beautifully. Sadly I missed Teen Deewarein..but from the reviews that I went through at MS…all have appreciated her performance. Comedy comes very natural to her and she excels in making her audience laugh.

Loved her in : QSQT, Goonj, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Ishq, Darr, Phir bhi dil Hain Hindustani, Ek Rishta and many more…

Preity Zinta

Preity is pretty in real sense. Entered the film industry with Dil Se by Mani Ratnam, she showed a lot of promise and clearly signaled that she was here to stay. Her spontaneity and vivacity makes her different from the other actresses of Bollywood. She seeps into the skin of the character that she is playing and makes it look so real onscreen that the cine goers would cherish for times to come. Remember her performance in Kya Kehna. She looks fresh in each of her film in a new character. I find her too cute, sweet and too beautiful. I can say she has just started and has miles to go. She is already playing the lead in almost all movies of big banners. This shows that she is the actress who is going to rule bollywood with her talent and looks.

Loved her in : Dil Se, Kya Kehna, Dil Chahta Hain, Mission Kashmir, Dil Hain Tumhara, Koi Mil Gaya etc.. …

Apart from the above, from the actresses of yesteryears with whose movies I have grown up till I could understand and start enjoying movies, My best 5 are :

  1. Meena Kumari : Loved her voice, Nashili eyes and the style with which she enacted any tragic scenes for which she was known as the tragedy queen.

  2. Madhubala : Hers was one of the rare combination of beauty with talent. She attracted her audience with her innocent smile and naughty eyes. Sadly she stayed for a short period, her fans just did not seem to get enough of her.

  3. Jaya Bhaduri : This short statured actress did create magic with her performance in Guddi, Koshish, Mili, Sholay, Abhimaan..to name a few, Just look at the variety of roles she’s done.

  4. Hema Malini : This dove eyed actress from south did create history by being one of the successful actresses even with her south Indian accent. She really looked like a dream. I just love her role as “Basanti” in Sholay. Nobody could have done it better…

  5. Shabana Azmi : She was altogether from a different league Apart from doing the roles in commercial cinema, she was an actress who could leave an equal impact on the audience doing offbeat cinemas. Above all she was a bold actress and very passionate as well.

Movies would not have been this beautiful without these actresses, Movies would not have been movies without them. “They come, They go and They conquer our hearts….
