There was a time when Hindi Cinema boasted of better female actors than their male actors. There was tough competition, not to be a star, but to be a better performer.
Here goes my list.
1. Meena Kumari. Do I neet to explain why?
2. Sridevi. She can fit into any role with ease and she has proved it time and again.
3. Smita Patil. Her acting capabilities cannot be matched to even 1/10 by today’s generation.
4. Nutan. Her list of quality movies will put even great stawlarts to shame and the reason why she was favored by great film makers was that none could match her standards when it came to histronics before the camera.
5. Nargis. Mother India was just a small example of her abilities.
Apart from the above mentioned actresses, there are a few others who could match their talent like Madhubala, Shabana Azmi, Tabu.
