.:Bhumi Predicts the Best n Worst 2003:.
Hello My Fellow Movie Fanatics,
It’s that time of the year where I try to predict the best and the worst of the year(2003). Now statistically, I am 90% right – wondering why not 100 – well because, when I m predicting the winners, I forget that the awards are just based on popularity & not on talent.
Before I start listing, let me just talk a little about Bollywood 2003.
A lot happened, *some got married, some gave birth to the future stars, some spent crores of money on a movie rather than giving it to charity, some fought over an actress, some said goodbye to Bollywood, some just had the worst year ever and then some had the best year in Bollywood.
There were a lot of varieties this year(who cares if some were just a desi remake of a Hollywood flick or our clichéd topic) with movies about an Alien, to New York based romance, to a apartment haunted by a ‘bhoot’, to Kargil war, to a Prison reality, to corrupt politicians based city, to a woman who still says “jism pyar karna nahi janta”, to a partition saga. … As you can see there was a lot to see this year. But which one won over the audience is the question.
~Here’s what I predict~
• Best Director Rakesh Roshan(Koi Mil Gaya)
• Best Movie Koi Mil Gaya
- This movie was the only movie that was loved by all ages – may be it was the cute alien.
• Best Actress Urmila (Pinjar & Bhoot)
- Clearly, she is the best actress we have but just never got the recogniton for it and 2003 was her year! She played a girl haunted by a bhoot, she played a sad woman in the midst of family rivalry and she played a ziddi daughter. She deserves this award more than anybody else!
• Best Actor Hrithik Roshan(Koi Mil Gaya)
After I watched MPKDH, I declared he was the worst actor this year but he made me change my mind and made me belive that he can still act and just needs his dad’s magic to see that talent. He excelled in the role of a mentally challenged boy.
• Supporting Actor Male Saif Ali Khan(Kal Ho Na Ho)
He is improving movie by movie and I think I can say for the fact that he was the best thing in the movie(yes… I said that sorry as much as I am a SRK Fan – I think he is loosing it- he needs to quit working with Karan Johar, enough of the gayish acting. What happened to the guy who acted in Anjam, Darr, Dil Se, Baazigar?)
• Supporting Actor Female Juhi Chawla(3 deewarein)
This was the best movie made this year –but as the filmfare award goes, this movie will be missed at the best movie category. Juhi Chawla made a comeback of some sort by this movie and she came with a bang! She was brilliant in her role. As a fan of Nagesh and talking to him – it seems he only makes movie what he believes in. He doesn’t care about commercial or artsy categories.
• Male in Comic Role Arshad Warsi(Munnabhai MBBS)
This was the Best Comedy of the year! And I simply loved Arshad in this.
• Best Vamp Bipasha Basu(Jism)
Admit It! You would’ve wanted her to take everything of yours(even ur life) If u just had the pleasure of being with her! Was she not the hottest vamp of the year!
• Male in a Negative Role Yashpal Sharma(Gangajal)
This movie was probably full of negative males…so…this was a tough choice.
• Best Singer Female Vasundhra Das(Its Time Disco) or Shreya Goshal(Jadu Hai Nasha Hai)
Take your pick! These were the best two singers of the year! But the question is would a sweet romantic song or crazy retro will win? Both my favorites!
• Best Singer Male Sonu Nigam(Kal Ho Na Ho)
This was tough! Since my mind went blank about male singers – but this Sonu came as a winner in my choice.
• Best Music Shankar, Ehsaan, & Loy( Kal Ho Na Ho)
- Clearly the best album this year! I mean it had a soft song, a loud Punjabi number, a hinglish number, a shaadi number, a retro number…a first love song…. What else can you ask for?
This trio is very talented and in my list they are number 2(sorry guys! A.r. Rahman still rocks!)
• Best Lyricist Javed Akhtar*(Ek Saathi Aur Bhi-LOC or KHNH)
• Best Debutant Male John Abraham(Jism)
HOT! Sexy! Hmmm…. what else can I say….? Talent? Well remember these days…that counts for nothing.
• Best Debutant Female Konkona Sen(Mr.& Mrs.Iyer)
( Bhumi’s Choice for Best n Worst)
• Best Artsy Movie Mr. & Mrs. Iyer & 3 Deewarein
- Two of the best movies of 2003 … if u haven’t seen it.u must! Movie is full of talented people and beautiful moments.
• Best Comedy Munnabhai MBBS
The most hilarious movie I have seen after Hera Pheri…just tooo hilarious… And I m so glad that there will be a sequel to it, in which Sanju baba will be going to become a lawyer! Hai rabba!
• Best Pop Album Tera Chehra by Adan Sami
- Adan Sami is a very talented singer and music composer – the album has varieties of love songs with a masti number too!
• Best Remix Kanta Laga by D.J. Doll
Hated the music video, despised the gal in the video…yet this was the most popular remix of the year!
•Best Music Video Tera Chera & Kabhi Nahi by Adan Sami
- Sorry to choose two but they are both clean, beautiful, different….videos.very creative!
• Hottest Item Number Yana Gupta(Babuji jara dheere chalo)
Haha! I just thought that 50% of our Movie soundtrack contain item number … there should be a category for them! And this came out as a winner since I love it too!
• Worst Movie Boom
• Worst Actor Female Katrina Kaif(Boom)
• Most Disappointed Movie Main Prem Ki Diwani Hui
- I m still in shocked that this movie was directed by the guy who made “Hum Apkei Hai Koun” .baap re! This movie is full of cons …only pro is music! Just avoid this movie!
(Cont. in the Comment Section - more crazy categories)
