Snigger,snicker and titter

Hume itna bhi na hasao ki hum has has kar pagal hi ho jae? this is what I can say about some of the most hilarious songs ever made in Bollywood. I was just thinking of picking up something and writing about it, and so here I am.

Contorted faces, wacky situations, funny lyrics and some really off the cuff music is what it takes to make a fundoo comedy song and I can say with pride that Hindi movies have been able to get all the right masala in making some of the most amazing comic songs ever picturised.

Comedy is a tough thing to enact and to do a comic song is all the more demanding, but that doesn?t mean that there haven?t been such quality songs which make u laugh and cry with that pain in your stomach. What is sad however is the fact that now a day in the name of comedy what is being dished out is real crap and it hurts to see that happen. Well let?s not cry about spill milk, as the idea is to enjoy the good work.

So folks sit back and get ready for the rib tickling numbers that I am dishing out for you. People sitting in their offices reading this one; please be cautious lest people around you start feeling that you have gone mad or something. Later on don?t tell me if they push you into one of those lunatic corners and brand you. You and only you would be responsible for the consequences of reading on.

So here goes.

Meri Bhais ko Danda kyo mara phew that?s some song man. Here go the https://lyrics.

Meri bhais ko danda kyo mara

WO khet mein chara charti thi

Tere baap ka kya wo leti thi

Movie: Pagla Kahin ka

Director: Shakti Samant

Music Director: Shankar Jaikishen

Lyricist: Hasrat Jaipuri

With lyrics such as those and Shammi Kapoor to enact it on screen how can the song not be funny? I mean when I first heard the lyrics I was like excuse me this cant be a song, but then it is, and wow what a wonderful comedy song it has come out to be. Do check it out and you would love it to say the least.

Ek chatur naar wow this is one rib tickling song. The comical combination of Mehmood sab and Kishore Da is sheer delight on the screen and the way the song has been sung is really hilarious. The song depicts the North-south conflict with the great Mehmood representing the south Indian style and our very own Kishore Da sings for the north. The way this song shapes up is really a delight. More so the way it has been picturised with both Mehmood and Kishore putting up a fine show, also pitching in some with real fine performance is the team of Sunil Dutt, Mukri, Cesto Mukherjee and their ilk.

Movie: Padosan

Director: Jyoti Swaroop

Music Director: R.D. Burman

Lyricist: Rajinder Krishan

Mannu tera hua ab mera

Hum the wo thi aur shama rangeen samajh gaye na

Arree yane yane yane pyar ho gaya

O mannu tera hua ab mera kya hoga

This song sung by Kishore and Manna Daa has to be one of the most beautifully sung songs ever. The way these two artists of class complement each other and try to outdo the other with their impeccable singing styles is a treat for the connoisseur. The onscreen due of Anoop Kumar and Kishore himself calls for some really funny moments, moments, which will remain etched in the minds of cine-goers for a long long time to come.

It talks about the haves and have-nots as far as having a girlfriend is concerned, all those stags out there would associate with this song so very well. Kishore having besotted Madhubala with his boyish charms belongs to the haves while the eternal bachelor Anoop bemoans his lack of a girlfriend, and the ensuing duet makes for compulsive rib tickling viewing

Movie: Chalti ka naam Gaadi

Director: Satyen Bose

Music Director: S.D Burman

Lyricist: Majrooh Sultanpuri

Daal kaise Gale

Daal kaise gale jab ke joota chale

Aisi shadi se hum to kunware bhale

Sung with a lot of spunk by the comedy king Kishore Da in a wonderful way. With lyrics such as those one has to expect a witty song and that?s what it is. One revels at the genius of the people involved in the making of the song to have made it such a remember able song with such lyrics and stuff.

Movie: Baap re Baap

Music Director: O.P Nayyar

Lyricist: Jaa Nissar Akhtar

Pyaar hume kis mod pe

This movie a hindi remake of the original Seven brides for seven brothers is one of the best movies ever made in terms of masala content, it had something for everyone from emotion to drama to romance to comedy. The song in question was picturised on the seven brothers led by the inimitable Big B.

The comic angle of the song comes from the setting of the same and the way it has been enacted on the screen. The song talks about love from a humorous angle and how it has brought despair to the protagonists. The wit is in the way they sing their lines and make love feel like a different feeling all together on screen. A great song nonetheless.

Movie: Satte pe Satta

Director: Raj Sippy

Music Director: Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyricist: Gulshan Bawra

The list is really very long to do justice in just the numbers I am permitted here. I have picked up at random some of the funniest songs. I don?t say these are the best but certainly amongst the best. The way these songs have been sung with spunk, the hilarious lyrics and the mind blowing comic timing of the characters who have sung these on the screen combined with the liveliness of the supporting cast makes these classics in their own right. People talk about the romantic numbers and the sad songs but I feel the comic songs are a genre of their own and they have to be appreciated for the service they have done to enliven the joyous spirit on screen.

Some other songs, which come to my minds are: -

*Mutt kudi kanwadi hara

Sar jo tera chakraye

My name is Anthony Gonzalez

The only sad thing today is that people make stupid attempts at comic songs these days. Gone are the days when we used to have really wacky songs with some brilliant people living them on screen. Wish the directors of today didn?t had to stoop to cheap comedy and take a leaf out of the books of these inimitable songs.
