As you all might know, a cover is a song originally performed by an artist/band other than the one whose name is associated with the cover. Usually, covers are the means through which a band is recognised. I think Metallica became famous through their covers. Not sure about it, though.
Usually, these covers are quite decent enough. But sometimes, they are really horrible. But there are a few covers whioch are even better than the originals. And these are the ones which I’ll put down here.
As with all other lists, its hard to say what the best cover is. At the moment, this is what I can think of. But its bound to change within a week or two. I think, I will add those extra ones as well.
5. Surfin’ USA

This was a really popular song almost everywhere. I prefer the Blind Guardian, which gives a better feel to the song. Or maybe its because Hansi is one of my favourite singers. The cover also has one amazing guitar solo.

The song needs no introduction. Of course, I prefer the original. But the Metallica version is also quite good.

Well, Ozzy Osbourne was my favourite singer for a long time, so I prefer the Black Sabbath version. But the guitar solos by Megadeth is not even in the same level as Black Sabbath’s.

2. Knocking on Heaven’s Door

Well, this song must be the most covered one. I used to love the Bob Dylan version long ago. But the GnR cover is much much better. Everything’s better - the guitars, vocals, drums. The guitar solos are really nice and typically Slash.

Another cover which I heard before the original. The Uriah Heep original is good but the Blind Guardian cover is superb. Its another ballad. But I love the way Hansi screams’Why don’t we listen to the voices in our heart.’.
