Lovie-Dovie classics from the 60's

This was not very difficult as I have not heard many oldies but these are the most

hummables; touching your soul with the simple strings of catchy music.

Not in any particular order; have added some lyrics where I could .I do not know much about most of the below artists but these numbers are truly lovely to this day

  1. Rhythm of the Rain - The Cascades

Foot tapping music - very catchy, very hummable

*’Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain

Telling me just what a fool I’ve been

I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain

And let me be alone again

The only girl I care about has gone away

Looking for a brand new start

But little does she know that when she left that day

Along with her she took my heart’*

  1. Oh Carol - N Sedaka

Ahh the one with several cover versions - will make you break into dance with your girl.

Perfect for pleading her .

*’Oh! Carol, I am but a fool,

Darling I love you tho’ you treat me cruel,

You hurt me and you made me cry

But if you leave me I will surely die’*

  1. Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

This is what I call a passionate song - the sound from deep within the heart. You will

automatically sing along the Righteous Brothers.

This is a very powerful song

*’Oh, my love

My darling

I’ve hungered for your touch

A long lonely time

Time goes by so slowly

And time can do so much

Are you still mine?

I need your love’ *

  1. I’d love you to want me - Lobo

Very Lovy Lovy song with some great music

*’When I saw you standing there

I about fell off my chair

When you moved your mouth to speak

I felt the blood go to my feet

Now it took time for me to know

What you tried so not to show

Something in my soul just cried

I see the want in your blue eyes’*

  1. Before The Next Teardrop Falls - Freddie Fender

The Lyrics below say it all.

*If He Brings You Happiness

Then I Wish You All The Best

It’s Your Happiness That Matters Most Of All

But If He Ever Breaks Your Heart

If The Teardrops Ever Start

I’ll Be There Before The Next Teardrop Falls*

  1. Tell Laura I love her - Ray Peterson

One of my fav Ballads

*Laura and Tommy were lovers

He wanted to give her everything

Flowers, presents and most of all, a wedding ring

He saw a sign for a stock car race

A thousand dollar prize it read

He couldn’t get Laura on the phone

So to her mother Tommy said

Tell Laura I love her, tell Laura I need her

Tell Laura I may be late

I’ve something to do, that cannot wait

He drove his car to the racing grounds

He was the youngest driver there

The crowed roared as they started the race

’Round the track they drove at a deadly pace

No one knows what happened that day

How his car overturned in flames

But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck

With his dying breath, they heard him say

Tell Laura I love her, tell Laura I need her

Tell Laura not to cry

My love for her will never die*

  1. Stand By Me - Ben King

  2. Killing me softly - Roberta Flack

  3. Groovy Kind of Love - Wayne Fontana?

*Go ahead and sweep your love off her/his feet - Guaranteed Love Results;-)*
