They are funnier than ever!

I wonder why I haven’t touched this topic so far.  Actually, I am sorry about that fact that I never used to see Hindi movies when I was younger.  So I may be missing older ones.  But I still managed to make a small list - I hope you like it or atleast some of it.most of my friends approved these when I asked them.

1) ANDAZ APNA APNA

Aamir Khan and Salman Khan comes with superb performances as they play two loafers trying to win the love of a rich girl.  The way they tries to impress the girl is quite funny.  When Parwesh Rawal comes to the scene as the father of the girl, the movie gets into a higher level of comedy.  Even the most serious scenes are handled in a comedy style.  Shakti Kapoor adds to the quality of the movie.

Remember the lines - ’’Aap mahaan hai.budhimaan hai, shaktiman hai, balki mein yeh kehti hoon ki aap purush hi nahin hai’’.  That was really great.  Another one was ’’Hum to nanhe munne panchi hai’’ and not to forget ’’Sojavo bete, Gogo aajayenge’’ and’Mark idhar hai’.  You should not also forget’the gun of Vasco-Da-Gama’.  What impresses me most is the way they have made this comedy more and more interesting.  Just see the creativity in making the names of the heroes as Amar and Prem to make an amar prem kahani.

The two girls Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor makes the movie colourful.  The most special thing about this movie is that Salman has acted in this movie unlike the other usual ones in which he manages to show his muscles atleast once.  You should see the final scene were Aamir is trying to impress the crime master and when Salman is trying to fight.  All cheers to the makers of this fantastic movie.

2) HASEENA MAAN JAYEGI

It seems that David Dhawan dives into the movie.  I think that the movie got this name because the haseenas(beauties) in the movie Pooja Batra and Karisma Kapoor maan jaata hai(they say yes to the love of Sanjay Dutt and Govinda).

In the movie two spoiled brats are trying to win the love of two girls after which they try to marry them telling a large number of lies to their one and only father-in-law which lands them in big trouble - but heroes are to overcome them, aren’t they?  Thats what I call typical Bollywood style.  As Kader Khan, Anupam Kher and Parwesh Rawal are there, there is high chance of huge comedies!

Sanjay Dutt shows that he is something more than an action hero and Govinda is great as expected.  Aashish Vidhyarthi too gets into the act in the end.  My favourite dialogue was’Kutte ke race mein Kaun dowdenga?’ -’Mein daudenga, aur first bhi aayenga’.  The humour gets higher and higher as the movie progresses.  How can you miss this movie?  I just watched this for the fifth time some days earlier in Star Gold.

3) HERA PHERI

Inspired from the Malayalam movie’Ramji Rao Speaking’, this movie directed by Priyadarshan was quite interesting as he found the right combination of Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and the evergreen master of comedy Parwesh Rawal.  It revolves around some people who are in immediate need for some money for their needs and are doing all that they can for achieving this.

Akshay and Sunil comes to the lighter side as they touches the comedy really well which makes us wonder if they are skilled comedians.  Even with the most ridiculous song’Main Ladki Pom Pom Pom’, the movie still keeps its level.  The speciality of the movie is that it contains some thrill and excitement that the usual comedy movies doesn’t have - that too in a comical style.

The movie shows us how the need for money can change a person.  The movie has the best moments when Akshay and Sunil meets for the first time and when the two fights along with Parwesh in between.

4) HUNGAMA

This one directed by Priyadarshan is inspired from the Malayalam movie -’Poochaykoru Mookuthi’ which was much better than this one.  But Hungama still provides a large amount of funny moments, especially with Parwesh Rawal in it.

The Malayalam comedy star Jagadeesh also gets his role in the movie and manages to do it well.  Even as it is the most confusing comedy ever, it will get you to ebjoy it.  It consists of two men after one girl and the girl struggling to keep his job alive and is really working hard on that.  At the same time, for this purpose, the amount of lies the girl says is more than some people say in their whole life time!

Each scene is supposed to contain a certain amount of comedy.  Akshaye Khanna and Rimi Sen does their roles well and Aftaab Shivdasani is not bad.  The only problem is the movie tends to have somewhat a twisted storyline.  But still the movie does provide us with some funny and enjoyable moments to cheer about.  Even if you don’t like the movie, don’t worry, this one is a shorter movie.

5) HELLO BROTHER

The movie is inspired from a Malayalam movie -’Aayushkaalam’ starring Jayram and Mukesh, but this movie is based on comedy unlike the other one which was rather emotional and sentimental.  The movie was extremely funny, but the problem was that the fun comes at the most ridiculous situtations.

Salman Khan is a ghost in the movie, I mean aatma who wants to have revenge on the person who killed him so that his soul can rest in peace(or pieces?).  His brother Arbaaz Khan joins him asan officer of narcotics department, the only man who can see and feel the presence of the ghost.

Even if the movie makes us laugh at a huge amount, the only problem was that Salman is shown somewhat like an stupid in the movie - but thats OK as he is able to make us laugh and he does get annoying only at a few occasions.  But the movie - considering as a whole is more than just enjoyable - its far more interesting - any where you look, you see comedy.
