In my rvu I have chosen mostly all the films which were made after 1990 and not the oldie goldy movies. The reason is that I haven?t watched much of those oldy goldy comedy flicks but there is one oldie goldy movie which I love to watch which is GOLMAL starring Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt.
If u want to read about those oldy goldy comedy flicks then refer to rvu?s under this category by my other ms friends. This time I am boring u coz I am writing yet another rvu. Sorry to do this torture but I can?t stop myself from writing an rvu and boring u all.
This is my personal choice and choices tend to differ but still I think this selection might be liked by all. So without boring u anymore let?s start with the movies. Although I have restricted myself to 5 films but I would have added more to it also. Moreover this list isn?t in any particular order.
So here goes:
1. Hera Pheri (2000) directed by Priyadarshan
I don?t think I have to describe why I like this movie so much, Paresh Rawal totally steals the show here. Here?s how the story goes: Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Sunil Shetty) are P.G of Babu Rao Ganpatrao Apte (Paresh Rawal), who is the owner of Star Garage. Raju wants to become maaldaar with a shortcut. He doesn?t wanna work hard and still wanna have a lot of money. Shyam comes to Mumbai because he has taken a loan from Khadak Singh (Om Puri). In short he also wanna earn money.
At first Raju and Shyam become foes because Shyam thinks that Raju is a pick pocket so they try to take revenge with each other whenever possible. Somehow Raju, Shyam and Baburao come together after sharing their woes and then Gangster Kabeera (Gulshan Grover) kidnaps the granddaughter of a big industrialist Deviprasad (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) who owns a company known as Star Fisheries and calls him for ransom but due to misprinted numbers in the directory, he calls Star Garage and Sunil shetty answers the call. But the devil mind Raju decides to double the ransom and free the child, keeping the rest for themselves. Great one liners from Paresh Rawal and natural acting of all the characters make this movie a delight to watch.
Songs are a letdown and they are not needed at all in the movie. If u haven?t watched this flick then u have really missed something.
2.Hungama (2003) directed by Priyadarshan
Well another score from Paresh Rawal and well supported by Akshaye Khanna, Aftab, Shoma Anand. She makes us laugh too along with Paresh Rawal. The story has so many jumbled up characters but still it?s a great movie to watch.
The story goes on like this: Mr. and Mrs. Radheshyam Tiwari (Paresh Rawal and Shoma Anand) come to Mumbai from their native village. Radheshyam Tiwari is a big business man and has Anjali Industries to his name. A new comer Anjali (Rimi Sen) who is in search of job also comes from a village to Mumbai. In search of a room partner she comes across Nandu (Aftab) who is a struggler and wants to become a great singer and also across Jeetu (Akshaye Khanna) who thinks that Anjali is the daughter of Radheshyam Tiwari and falls in love with her. The story moves on and then Mrs. Tiwari thinks that Mr. Tiwari is having an affair with this girl Anjali and Mr. Tiwari thinks Mrs. Tiwari is having an affair with Jeetu. And then suddenly Kachra Seth (Shakti Kapoor) comes up and tells Mr. Radheshyam that his son is engaged to his daughter and Radheshyam calls his son back from London and clarifies the matter but Kachra Seth doesn?t believe it and Mrs. Tiwari now thinks that that Mr. Tiwari has another son means other step son. Confused? Well watch the movie and see the mumbo jumbo jumbled up characters and laugh a lot!!
3.MunnaBhai M.B.B.S (2003) directed by Rajkumar Heerani
Bole to is movie ke bare mein apun ko kucch jyaada bolneka zarrurat nahi hai. Apunko yakin hai ki tum logo ne is dhaasu filum ko dekhelaich hoga. Bole to 2003 ki sabse jhakaas filum thi ye. Fir bhi apun thoda bahot is rapchik movie ke bare mein bolich daalta hai.
Munna (Sanjay Dutt) comes to Mumbai after being consistently scolded by his father Hari Prasad Sharma (Sunil Dutt) coz he wants his son to become a doctor. In Mumbai, Munna as u would expect with Sanju baba becomes Munnabhai. But he alongwith his co Circuit (Arshad Warsi) loot only filthy money. Now munna?s dad knows the dean of a medical college Dr. Asthana (Bomen Irani) who reveals that Sanju baba is not a doctor and he?s a don. Sanju baba ko bura lag jaata hai and so he thinks apun saala iska college join karke doctori pass karkeij dikhayega. And so he joins the college and then the comedy kick starts. Bole to Munna bhai ka lady love is picture mein play karela hai Chinky (Gracy singh) ne. a great performance by Sanju baba as well as Bomen Irani and not to mention Arshad Warsi too!! Worth watch a movie.
4. Deewana Mastana (1997) director David Dhawan
Another great comedy flick produced by Nitin Manmohan and directed by David Dhawan. At this time the Govinda-David duo were on sky high giving one after one hit movies. This movie made Govinda won the award for the best actor in a comic role. The film starts of with Raj Anil Kapoor who is a crook & steals money and comes to Mumbai and sees NehaJuhi Chawla who plays a Psychiatrist in this movie. Now Anil?s competitor turns up in the form of BunnuGovinda who is with lots of psychic probs. and he too falls in love with Juhi. They both compete with each other to win over Juhi funnily and make us laugh heartily and are well supported by Johnny lever. Govinda is a must watch when he delivers lines like, ’’I am fine, I am ok, I am feeling better.’’ when he is scared of fire, water and elevators. In the end both remain akelas as Sallu aka Salman Khan turns up and takes Juhi away!!
5.Andaaz Apna Apna (1994) directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi
Do I have to tell anything about this movie? I m sure all of u guys have seen this movie. I have seen this time many times and still laugh to its each and every comic scene. I wonder why this movie wasn?t a hit? Well the film starts of with two good for nothing guys Amar (Aamir Khan) and Prem (Salman Khan) who want to become a millionaire?s by marrying Raveena Bajaj (first Raveena Tandon and later Karisma Kapoor). They find out different ways to impress her and get her. Then her father comes who else once again Mr. Ram Bajaj (Paresh Rawal) and makes some funny scenes too. Paresh has his twin brother Tejawho is a bad character and wants to kill his good bro and get the diamonds. Funny scenes happens and then Crimemaster gogo (Shakti Kapoor) also joins the party and makes us laugh. The climax scene is gr8 and fun to watch. All in all a good acting performance by all.
Anyways so this concludes my session of boring u all with my rvu. Hope u find it interesting.
