Wham bam and macho men !!!

Action! women may hate the men huddling around the tv watching the good old action movie but hey men will be men and that goes for me too so I hope the female writers in ms like a bit of action too!

my criteria for choosing the following movies

1 the action should be beliavable and mind blowing not ten cars blowing up or a single man knocking out 25 in a kick like some martial art movies .

2 mind blowing stunts  or well choreographed action sequences which look realistic  enough(even though they could be comp geneated)

3 heroes with attitude and smart one liners .

4 non stop thrills.

so here goes( the listing is not in any particular order)

1 return of the dragon(starring bruce lee and chuck norris)

you can see the cold supressed rage in bruce’ eyes the movie was good the action sequences were well choreographed and the climax was heart throbbing remember I am talking about the time in which there were no wires no computer generated impossible to beleive action sequences

the climax was good the fight with chuck norris was beliavable( it was even suggested by a wild fan that the fight was really for the undisputed martial action hero now I guess you’ll watch the movie again)

the best part is the lightning quick moves of bruce lee . cool and deadlyremember he did not have the physique of a arnold S but his sinewy hard body was physically very fit and boy could he move .

the movie is worth seeing for good old plain martial arts moves quick punches and high flying kicks .

2 Police Story+drunken master

I hope the readers do not think that I am biased towards asian superstars its just that they deserve to be in the list

remember I am talking about movies which have action sequences which have realistic stunts .

jackie chan was quick funny a regular giy who could come up amzingly diffrent and versatile syunts I mean which action star can use anything from a ladder to a book to a horshoe and a rope kudos I have grown up watching him and he deserves a place check out the climax mind blowing jackie crashing through layers of glass holding a electric wire I saw the behind the scenes credita and he was very much injured . the fights were good jackie gets beaten before unleashing his magic and thats belieavable( when will our south indian movies sit up and take notice that thre can be realistically filmed acxtion seq)

3 Terminator 2

this movie deserves a mention cos of two manin attributes

1 Arnie was cool and great( guys its hard to have a deadpan fixed pan expression throughout the movie try it and ull know .

2 good comp generated and well choreographed action seq .

remeber the climax truck overturning seq or the street chase terminator was good hard busting gun action not much of punches and high flying kicks so I thought of including this movie .

the villian was better than the hero and unbeatable in guess I am an sucker for the underdog movies .

the truck seq remember the bike helicopter sequence the villian raoring out of a sixth floor building and and crashing into the police helicopter and taking comtrol

overall a good action movie .

4 MI 2

tom cruise looked great in the movien had atttiude was suave and sophisticated and the villian was equally good

pros:

good sequences

the bike sequence, the crimera staeling seq all were in characteristic john woo  style: in ur face slam bam fast action u just cannot take ur eyes off afraid of missing a stsunt .

the sequence in the underground bunker, high flying kicks all were vintage john woo.

good stuff for all action fans .

5 Mortal Kombat 2

the first one was equally good but I liked the second one cos every all the characters were present,

I have been a huge fan of the MK videogames practically since the beginning, and I really enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie. It wasn’t a work of art, but it was fun, funny, colorful and had some great fight scenes.

conbs of the movie:

if you’re going to replace a character with another actor(Christopher Lambert), then at least make sure the new actor does a batter job than the first. The first Raiden was a hard-ass, and you knew not to mess with him. The second Raiden was a wuss and every time we saw him he was going through a wall.

Weak portrayals of major MK characters was another flaw.

The actress who portrayed Sonya Blade was nowhere near as good as Bridgette Wilson(the first Sonya).

Same could be said with Cage(Linden Ashby).

the  fights were well choreographed and showcased a good selection of acrobatic and martial arts skill. Action was conveyed through close combat, good angles, and lengthy tradeoffs. And at the very least, there was a genuine moment or two where one might say’wow, that was a cool move!’.
