Women actors don’t always get their just do, but I don’t care what anybody says. Hollywood has produced some of the best female actors of all time. Some of them make us laugh, cry, and scream. They offered us the best in comedy, drama, action, suspense and horror. I enjoyed watching them portray their lead roles with excellence on the big screen. My choices for the five best actresses are:
1. Lucille Ball, is a long time legend of comedy. Her weekly sitcoms of “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show” left the viewers with an abundance of laughter. I especially enjoyed her weekly sitcom “I Love Lucy.” Her schemes were not only very funny, but they always back fired. Lucille Ball is no longer with us, but her weekly sitcom of “I Love Lucy” is still seen on TV. Her outstanding accomplishments on the big screen will be missed and never forgotten.
2. Joan Crawford is another outstanding actor and legend of her time. Her lead roles of suspense, drama, and horror were extraordinary, and brilliant. Her lead roles in Fear, Queen Bee, and Harriet Gram evoked strong emotions of anger, romance, and anguish. Joan Crawford will always be remembered as the woman of drama, and suspense.
3. Betty Davis is another outstanding legendary actor who brought us intensifying moments of suspense, horror, and drama. Her lead roles in Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, and The Baby Sitter was excellent. Her outstanding work will never be forgotten.
4. Pam Grier is an actor that came out of a different time in movie history; this actress stared in a lot of blaxexplotation movies of the 70s. She introduced American movie goers to the no-nonsense tough lady in her lead role in Coffy. She fought back and always won. Pam Grier is still seen on the big screen and television. However, her legendary tough roles are over and will be remembered.
5. Whoopi Goldberg, is another fine actor who brought us Cele, a simple southern girl who become a victim of sexual abuse by her father , and later baring his child. She suffers more physical and mental abuse by her husband in The Color Purple. This ground braking achievement for Ms. Goldberg would later open many more doors for her on the big screen. Her lead role in Ghost was another outstanding achievement for this actress.
There you have it folks, this is my choice of the five best female actresses. Their work is excellent.
