(PLEASE EXCUSE MY SPELL ERRORS....MY WORD WEB IS NOT WORKING AND I AM PATHETIC AT SPELLINGS...SORRY!)
Well to be honest its rather tough to decide upon 5 best actresses of english movies because there are so many good ones! If it were the case with apna desi actresses then it would have taken efforts to pick best three too(lol)...well I am not being biased , but since the actresses in our flicks dont have much to do other than sing and dance in gaudy clothes, howl like cows at the slightest provocation and behave like bimbittes I could not get my self to comment on the 5 best ones , though there were and are some brilliant actresses in our country whose potential has not been exploited to the fullest(Nutan, Tabu, Tanuja, Aishwaria rai, Kajol, Madhuri...etc). I am talking only about mainstream cinema here and not actresses like Shabana azmi and Smita patil who restricted themselves to alternative genre of making movies....But both were brilliant!....well here is me taking my pick on the 5 most scintillating queens who have and are reigning bollywood!
- JULIE ANDREWS...
She is an example who proves unconventionalism.....though not stunningly good looking , she stole the hearts of many in her movies like THE SOUND OF MUSIC and MERRY POPPINS which were super hits and still loved and liked by people of all ages and sensibilities. Her plus points were her spontinity and her charm and also her inocense! Every time you saw her on screen you felt she was a close friend....she had the ability to get the audiences completely involved. She had that girl-next-door persona which the audiences fell for! Her acting was mind blowing and she entertained us with lots of memorable movies!
- AUDERY HEPBURN...
Beauty and class personified was Audery Hepburn. She was hep and sexy and she was stunning with the most fantastic face the silver screen has witnessed. She looked very much like a delicate high society socialite that she played in many of her movies. She was charming and graceful and each mans dream. She entertained us with with fantastic movies like ROMAN HOLIDAY, MY FAIR LADY and FUNNY FACE which fell into the romantic-comedy genre that fitted her personality perfectly!.....She was to hollywood, what Madhubala was to bollywood. In the later stages of her life she involved herself with the UNO to do social work
3.MERYL STREEP...
I call her the Tabu of hollywood. With a very ordinary face and no sex appeal to boast of, all she survived was on her trememdous acting abilities!....You feel like crying when you see her emoting on screen. She is a total natural and almost like an acting institution. She did a awesome job in KRAMER Vs KRAMER by playing the divorced wife to Dustin Hoffman, fighting for her child. She was equally competent as the violin teacher in MUSIC OF THE HEART. She conveys all her messages through her eyes and expressions on her face! A complete natural!!!
4.JULIA ROBERTS...
This one has got it all....she looks like a beauty with brains! She has a very very rare combination of beauty and acting talent. With that unbelieveable pout you feel she is gonna jack you if you face her! She has played fantastic roles in lot of memorable movies like PRETTY WOMAN, NOTTING HILL, MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING and ERIN BROCKOWITCH for which she won an oscar! She depects the characters she plays with a lot of realism and her carefully careless attitude on screen is a complete treat to watch! The execution of her characters is too good. ( I am sure there are going to be a lot of people who disagree with this one because there are lots who hate her).
5.NICOLE KIDMAN...
Well I like her simply because she looks just out of this world. She is drop dead gorgous in her video with Robbie williams. I havent seen many films of her but I saw her film called FAR AND AWAY and a bit of MOULIN ROUGE(did not get to watch the whole movie) and she was truely outstanding!
Hope to catch more of her films on tv and dvd!
Well thats about it!....This was my choice for the 5 favourate ones though I like many others too like PENELOPE CRUSE, JENNIFER ANNISTON, MEG RYAN and SUSAN SARINDON.
Comments are welcome!
Cheers!
