This is a list of animated films which haven?t been blockbusters or gained much recognition but are masterpieces & my favorites.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002):
For Animated movie lovers, this is a must-watch film.This is a story of an adventure of wild horse in the wild wild west grasslands.The film starts with the birth of horse, he grows up carefree in the wild with his group.One evening he sees a smoke in the woods, when he goes there to investigate, he first time sees a human.Unfortunately, they catch him & hand him to U.S.cavalry to break him and train him as a warhorse.How he gains freedom & in way falls in love with a mare is shown in the film.
The story is very well portrayed with emotion & humor.The grasslands & the west backgrounds are shown beautifully.Matt Damon has given the voice of the horse?s conscience.The music composed by Bryan Adams is absolutely rocking & worth listening(I have even purchased it?s soundtrack). This is a different but damn good movie, if you get a chance don?t miss it.

Ice Age (2002):
Most of you guys have listed ice age as a good movie, but nobody has ever written a review about it.This is a 3D movie.The story revolves around three animals in ice age Manfred-Mamoth(Voice by Ray Romano), Sid-sloth (Voice by John Leguizamo) & Diego- sabertooth tiger(Voice by Denis Leary).Ice Age has started & all the animals have started on way to warmer lands.A group of sabertooth tigers attack on a early-humans group for food & in this confusion a mother takes her child & runs.unfortunately the mother dies & child is found by Manfred & Sid, Who decide to return the child to the group.They start on the way to find the group who has moved away.
On their way, they are joined by Diego, who convinces them he is there to help, But he is actually leading them in to the trap.Their adventures together while on a mission is hirlious.There are various other interesting characters, the army of Do-Dos who have collected three melons for surviving Ice age & a squirrel who is always running after his acorn. In the end, they succeed in returning the child.I have seen this movie hundreds of times but I can still watch this movie again.I love Manfred & the lazy, dimwitted & humorous Sid, who thinks he is the best & falls in some trouble every time.For those who haven?t seen this one, you have missed a good one.

MULAN(1998)
Yet another great movie from Studios of Walt Disney Pictures, this is a different movie in a chinese background.Mulan is courageous & happy girl A war is in its shadows & Mulan?s ill father is summoned to join the imperial army.Afraid that if father joins the army, he may not return alive again, Mulan disguises herself as a man & joins the imperial army with her fire-breathing guardian dragon, Mushu & cricket named Cri-Kee.She undergoes the training where she has problem adjusting, there are various comedy scenes where she has to talk like a man.She wins the trust of her comarades, especially captain Shang, whom she likes.
After training, Mulan is admitted into the imperial army, where they set out to catch an imposter, a villainous Hun leader, Shan-Yu.On the trail to catch the imposter, Mulan gets hurt after fighting bravely with Shan-Yu?s army & defeating it.While treating Mulan, the doctor understands that she is a girl & reveals it to the whole army.This disappoints captain Shang & he orders her to go back home. But on the way home, Mulan sees that Shan-Yu?s army is not totally defeated & is planning to attack the imperial city.She runs ahead to warn the army but Shan-Yu?s army reaches before her.Does she reach in time to save the city?You will have to watch the film for that.The backgrounds of movie are beautiful, specially when the army is on hunt for Shan-Yu?s army admist the snow mountain range.The music is also good.Over all a great entertaining movie.

A BUG?S LIFE(1998)
This movie is compared with Antz, but this is way better than it.This is a Disney-Pixar production.This is a story of an ant colony on the countryside, which is ravaged by a group of Grasshoppers for food.Flick is an intelligent but clumsy ant who makes several inventions but is termed crack by his fellow members.Once while collecting food, all the food is lost due to flick?s clumsiness & Grasshoppers get angry & give ants a last chance to collect food.Everybody is angry at flick & think of ways to get rid of him.
Flick thinks ants are very badly oppressed & they should seek outside help.The queen quickly grants his wish because she wants to get rid of him.Many ants agree with her & think he may never return.Flick goes to city & brings back the warrior bugs as he thinks.But they are actually circus performers running away from their boss.This creates lot of chaos & confusion. The is a very comedy movie at miniscule level.The world of insects is potreyed with vibrant colours.Music by Randy Newman is also good.The total animation, background, screenful is just awsome.For fun filled comedy time, this movie is great.

THE LAND BEFORE TIME(1988)
This is my favorite childhood movie.My father purchased the cassette for me which I watched whenever I had time.This is the story of dinosaurs on the verge of extinction.Little foot is brancheaosuarus who born at this time.He is spunky, fiesty little dinosaur.Their starts moving in quest to find the ?Green Valley? which is land where there is no dearth of food & water.On the way little foot?s mother gets killed while saving him from trynosaurus rex & his grandparents are separated.Little foot has to find his way alone.On the way, he is joined by four friends.Together these friends find the great valley.The relationship between friends is shown beautifully.The music is superb.Today it may seem less exciting in front of digital films, but I will always cherish this film.
