Well, here I go again with another list of the 5 best movies, but this time mouthshut wants to know my choice of the five best movies of the 70’s. Well, I will start out by saying that my list consists of a mixture of macabre, and the most unusual films that would cause amazing phenomenal events on the big screen. These movies would later make a major precedence in film history. But this was only the beginning of what Hollywood, and its writers, and directors would show is in the future. My choices of the best five films of the 70’s are:
1. Five Fingers of Death, was the first martial arts film released in the US in 1971. This movie sent shock waves of excitement to moviegoers. For the first time in America every body wanted to become a karate expert. I remember watching children in the streets kick box, throw kicks in the air, and jump as high as they can with a flying kick. Wow! The awesome impact this film left on moviegoers. But “Five fingers of death” was just the beginning.
2.“Fist of Fury” released in 1972 broke even more ground in American theaters. Shortly after the release of “Five Fingers of Death” emerged another kung fu star, Bruce Lee. This unique and distinguish martial artist would ultimately take charge of martial arts movies. Out of “Fist of Fury”, Bruce Lee became a phenomenal. He later stared in such films as “The Chinese Connection”, “Enter the Dragon” “Return of the Dragon”, and his final incomplete release “The Game of Death.” Bruce Lee set a new precedence in martial arts entertainment that would dominate the screen until his untimely death.
3. The Exorcist released in 1973, broke ground, and produced a new wave of horror and the supernatural. For those of you that never believed the Devil was real moviegoers would be faced with the horrible psychological effects of demonology, and the existence of Satan. The story is about the possession of a young girl by a demon.
4. Sounder released in 1972 and is an outstanding movie of an African American family broken, and reunited by the law. This was the first African American movie to win an Oscar.
5. Star Wars is another outstanding movie released in 1977. This is another outstanding and rare movie of its time. Moviegoers would be exposed to another trend in Sci-Fi movies with a wonderful twist of modern technology, and special effects.
There you have it folks this is my choice of the five best movies of the 70’s. These movies are wonderful because they are the first of their kind. They are wonderful contributions to the film industry along with an outstanding cast of excellent actors, producers, writers, and directors.
