Sci-fi films - they are among my favourite ones. They are all about science and technology. They have the special effects and visuals that no other movies have.
1) THE MATRIX
The first part I believe is the best part of the Matrix series. I am still wodering whether this one is an action movie or a sci-fi movie. As the movie was based on an extremely different theme which is says that the usual world is just an illusion created by machines and the real world is a nightmare where the intense war is going on between the humans and machines creating chaos all over. The action sequences of the war is just amazing as each move thrills you all over. Keanu Reeves has given a breath taking performance in the best grahics movie of the year as Neo. The dialogues of the character Morpheus are stunning. There can never be a substitute for this movie. After seeing the movie, you may wonder where you are. Atleast don’t ask ’’What is the matrix’’?
2) STAR WARS
The Star wars triology has created a lots of impact in the movie world. The Empire Strikes back and the Return of the Jedi were great, but The Phantom Menace and The Return of the Clones were not upto the mark. But overall, this has been one of the most interesting series in the Hollywood history. This is one of the earlier films I have seen. The fights in this movie makes it closer towards becoming an action movie, but it is still a sci-fi movie. The movie has some emotions which are done nicely by the crew. The movie really has an everlasting effect on us. The movies became so popular that there were lots of computer games released under the name. The first episodes of the movie are quite old now, but still they are among the all time favorites.
3) JURRASSIC PARK
A Steven Spielberg film which brought a new concept ie the diosaurs which were extinct long ago being brought back in the Jurrassic Park. The first part was the best of all as it showed the real character of dinosaur ie hunting for food. In the other movies, the dinosaurs seemed to be interested in creating chaos other than thinking about food. I really can’t stand the Lost World. But the first episode kept me in the seat from the begining to the end. The dinosaurs looked real and their characteristics were well planned and really informative. The special effects used in the film seemed to be great and the presence of horror factor makes the movie even better. As a sci-fi film, this movie gets better and better.
4) E.T.
One of the earliest of the alien movies from where ’Koi Mil Gaya’ took its origin. The alien is not the villain in this movie like the other alien stories, most of them based on horror. Steven Spielberg has really done a wonderful job. The movie tells the story of the relationship between an alien lost from it’s mothership and a kid who finds it. He tries his best to hide the aliens from others as the government is in the pursuit. It is one of those family movies - especially one of those movies which children may like more. These type of movies have now become too scarce in Hollywood.
5) STARSHIP TROOPERS
This is really a different movie. It gets us to the time when some giant alien bugs are hunting humans. The humans have highly developed technology, but there are not much they can do except for some soldiers. I have heard that the sequel to the movie has been released, but has not got much information about it. Casper Van Dien has given some good performance with Dina Meyer and Denise Richards. The movie has an entertaining story line and the cast as well as the dialogues are superb. The movie takes an entirely different taking turn in the second part from the arrival of the bugs ie giant ones.
