Early this new year morning as I sit in my bed, i just wanted to write something I long desired to.since SO MANY years I have had this fixation with ShahRukhKhan.and before you think I am writing crap or pass any judgment..read on...
Since his early flicks’’Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na’’, there is most definitly something different about him.About the kind of movies he chooses.people may go on saying things about his looks or voice or nything for that matter.But what I supported him for was the fact that this guy experimented.His list of films include ’’versitality’’ if not anything else.He is one person who takes his work as work, and has a perfectly clear background as far as being in the industry goes.Did u ever realise he has hardly been ever linked up with any female in the last 2 decades of his acting career???(compair Akki Baba-an avrage of 2 a year rumors..and amir..wow!!!!)
The year 2005 has not been too pleasant for him as far as the silver screen goes, i agree.But still, jut one flop cannot change my openion about this man with great potential.So I tried looking into the details of why he did not grab any award winning performances???and found the answer straight..well he was too busy with ’’Temptation’’..the concert troop he is traveling with throughout the world.This is what makes him different from others.Having earned his moolah in the industry, he pays back by taking it to the world market.And only SRK is capable of it!!!
So lets start listing his Best Performances...
The Zee Cine Award Goes TO......DIL TO PAGAL HAI...’’hame kaise pata chalega ki wo kaun hai.kya wo hamare naam ka sign board pakar ke khari hogi??’’...with this movie SRK made a mark for himself with his mesmerising romantic performance.It was only this man who’s personality was so impressive that the director could cast him as the love interest of the 2 leading ladies of bollywood, karisma and madhuri.Despite of their strong screen presence, not one viewer would disagree that SRK never looked out of place and the question..’’ye iske peeche kyun pari hain??’’(why r they after him?)never came to our mind!!!We all very naturally accepted him being worthy enough of both the girls.while I doubted how could Akshay Kumar with his over acting even think of wooing madhuri(i wonder even if he looked like farida’s son even!!!)..he seemed completely out of place..but SRK out shinned both the beauties who had their fixation with him.
The Screen Award Goes To......KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI...’’Pyar Dosti Hai’’...though it was the creativity from behind the camera which gave Indian audiences a new definition of love, but it was Shah Rukh who lived it!!!and convincingly yet again.The movie despite of two FAT actresses..Kajol(who acted greatly to cover her chubb) and Rani Mukherji(who seemed to be a puppet in KJ’s hands)worked and worked BIG TIME..now you cannot always deny my hero’s credit.Yes it was the SRK power again, which pulled the debutant director Karan Johar(KJ) and the debutant Rani Mukherji, to fame!!!Again the fact that only SRK can convince the audience that 2 hotties of the college love him.
The IIFA Award Goes To......KAL HO NA HO...’’Mere Naina Meri Naina Ko Dekhne Ke Liye Taraste Hain’’.now for those who believe that SRK can only do romantic roles, here’s my reply.in the film, just incase u missed it, SRK plays a son, a friend, a narrator, a neighbour, a nefew, a patient, (a dead body), etc...Now he cannot be romancing in all the relations???!!!He does justice with each scene of his.when he is happy he makes us happy and when he suffers he makes us feel the suffering.Another very important part about this movie..despite of the fact that there was a similar movie made in the past ’’Anand’’(Rajesh Khana), do we see even an iota of copying the old film???SRK acts the way he wants to.Had it been even Amir in his place, u would’ve seen glimpses of Rajesh Khanna of Anand.But SRK has his style.
The National Award Goes To......VEER ZAARA..’’Main Kaidi Number 876...’’.What an applausable performance indeed.We see him in two extreamly versitile roles in this film.from a young airforce officer, he goes on to become a prisoner for life.Now only SRK couldve done it.tell me, can u imagine any other actor doing the same?Amir, Saif, Hritik???The answer my friend is NO!!!Its only SRK who could even when he is at his peek in his acting career, dare to act a substance role of a middle agged man.While the Amir khans try finding the young Akash(DCH)and saif’s want them to be called ’’nick’’ and no Nikhil Arora(Salam Namaste)..grow up man!!!
The Oscar Goes To......SWADES...’’When india calls we wil have to hear what she says’’.now this one is for only those who saw the film completely..in one go..and without any prejudice against it.The film is a picture of neo-patriotism.I hold it very close to my heart despite of the fact that it might have failed at the box office.I believe that the failiure of such a film is not the failiure of the film but that of the audiences.The Indian audiences can appreciate the sandy beaches of Goa, why cant we accept the rural-reality of our country???and then how long can we go on living in this helucination of Dil Chahta hai’s and Salam Namaste’s??
The list of Gr8 SRK films is endless...paheli(oscar nomination), asoka(mythology), Main Hun Na(produced by SRK), Devdas(legendry role), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge(lively young man), Main Hun Na(action hero), Pardes(true lover)Josh(gangster cum singer), Hey Ram(with Kamla Hasan), Badshah(light humored comedy)....the list just goes on!!!!
So the next time you say that SRK’s just not ur kinda hero...dont think u r acting intellegent, u r probably under-estimating a deserving man!!!
and SRK this is my tribute to u..i am a die-hard fan of urs and still remember ur comment on ’’Coffee With Karan’’...the one word that define SRK...IMMENSE!!!! : )
