I am a biblophile and pick up good books wherever I find them whether on street or in crosswords. However, I would like to bring to the notice of my fellow booklovers an exhibition of books held every year in Mumbai called Bombay Book Bazaar. It has a fixed venue, Sunderbai Hall, Marine Lines Near SNDT University. It was earlier held twice a year, once in February and once in August but now I think they hold it once a year in August.
The range of books available there is staggering .If you are a real book lover you cant leave the exhibition without buying atleast 10 books, thats my experience. The billing system there is very user friendly. The books range from philosophy, religion, fashion, cooking, management and almost everything under the sun. The range of childrens books is also vast.
The discounts offered on the books is also an added attraction.Avoid the exhibition on Sunday evening as you may encounter crowds and will not be able to browse through the books. Weekdays noons are the best time according to me.
Over the years the Bombay Book bazaar has become an important event in Mumbais literary calendar. Watch out for it!
