Bangalore. The Pub City. The Indian Silicon Valley. City of Opportunities. Once upon a time, The Garden City. A Pensioners Paradise(not now for sure!).
What not has this place been termed as? With more than 6.3 million people and growing(rapidly.) Bangalore is a THE place for New Restaurants & eateries. The Cosmopolitan Culture & the hectic lifestyle makes a bangalorean always in a look out for something new, something exciting.
You find a large variety of restaurants to try something very new every time. You can try some authentic & traditional Brahmin restaurants like MTR to a high fashion place like the Indi Joe’s. You find places where you can relax and enjoy some quality time with friends and family in restaurants like The Village and also place where you just rush in, grab a quick snack and run for your next appointment like the Adigas.
You can choose a Multinational chain of restaurants like the Pizza Hut to specific, single, unique restaurants like the Coffee House and Vidyarthi Bhavan. You can get into a restaurant which bills up to several thousand rupees or just a couple of rupees.
You just specify the requirement and you get it in this wonderful city. My 5 best are below:
Kamath Bugle Rock: Located at the corner of the Bull Temple Road in Basavanagudi, Kamath Bugle rock is a vegetarian restaurant with a difference. It provides its specialty, The North Karnataka Full Meal. I haven’t come across any restaurant which provides such an original meal which is so very close to the actual food.
The customers not only fill their stomach with superb meal but also their mind with sweet music…. yes, you get to hear classical music performed live here on weekends. You can enjoy the music as you wait for your table and also while you have your favorite North Karnataka food. Caution: You need to wait an average of 20 minutes till you get to your table.
Indi Joes: Located on the airport road, adjacent to the ring road fly over is this very neat Indi Joes. Its best comes every afternoon during its regular buffet. Man! Its got a lot of continental food & drinks from different locations and that too at a very good price. I loved the ambience and its deserts. The kulfi you get here is just impossible to forget. Its better to book a table well in advance….
Gramin: Located at the Raheja Archade in Koramangala is a few foot steps away from The Forum Mall. This vegetarian restaurant specializes in North Indian Cuisine and any thing you eat here is lip-smacking. The interiors spell out the name of the restaurant and the dishes look pretty attractive. But the space is a major draw back not more than 30 people can sit in here. Though cozy, its on my list for its food.
Vidyarthi Bhavan: How can one miss Bangalore’s very own, grand father of resturants, Vidyarthi Bhavan & its Butter Masala Dosas. Located in the Gandhi Bazzar Main Road, it has been providing Dosa lovers their favorite food for a very long time now. If you are interested only in Dosas, not the ambience, the people, the noise around you, it’s the best place to visit.
Corner House: The place for death by chocolate, *Corner house is the place to have a wonderful desert.
There are many more restaurants with much more lip-smacking food available in Bangalore. Above mentioned are only a few with affordable prices for an average Bangalorean. More than the food, it’s the heart of the localities to accept every outsider as their guests. Long-live the City of Opportunities.
