They say laziness is the man’s biggest enemy(do they?), but in my case, its proved fruitful. Just five days before, I had this thought of listing out five best reviews on Mouthshut. Of course, the lazy bum that I am, just the very thought of choosing five from a magnificent tens of thousands of reviews posted on Mouthshut gave me goosebumps, and quite innocently I typed in “5 best reviewers on Mouthshut” in the Mouthpad and submitted it. And lo! The first thing in the morning that I read in the mailbox was that this category was added .And my task of selecting the best from Mouthshut became peanuts(well, almost!)…

Presented below, in alphabetical order is the list of the prestigious 20 writers who have impressed practically everyone on the site with whatever little they have contributed here. They have written reviews that have made us laugh, made us think, made us ponder, and quite simply, made us wonder, whether anyone can better them…

Cheeky: CRYSTAL CLEAR

Talk of clarity of thought and aptness in writing, and Cheeky’s name springs into mind instantly. One of the reasons why I love his reviews is because he’s one writer with whom I share my writing style(albeit remotely). The most impressive factor that makes Cheeky unique is his ability to leave no stone unturned while reviewing just about anything and everything here. Be it his eye-opening book reviews, or his well-articulated product reviews and tips, the professionalism lurks from every word he pens. Also clapworthy is his ability to churn out consistently excellent reviews one after another, which makes him one of the best writers here. His best, according to me is his reviews on Iraq War(in 2 parts), Bombay, Yahoo Messenger, Google and 5 best books. For more proof, visit:

Ganesh: INNOVATIVENESS PERSONIFIED

Just 25 reviews old, yet the innovativeness that each of Ganesh’s review carries simply boggles everytime you read his reviews. Written always from the most difficult angle, they are in a class of their own. The style of writing is simply impeccable and the range alternates between downright hilarious reviews(BCCI India, Twenty Worst Songs, Travelling tips, MTNL) to outstandingly different views on Twenty Best Hindi Love Songs and Depression, Ganesh is in one word REFRESHING!

Madlalya:’M’USICALLY YOURS

They say a man’s passion shines through everything he does, and that’s exactly what I find in each of Maddy’s reviews. With music as his forte, his music reviews are arguably the best on Mouthshut. What is equally shocking is his ability to mesmerise you with his fantastic story-telling in practically every product that he reviews. Sharing first, and then imparting facts, is his style, add to that the underlined humour in every review of his, and they make for the most sublime reading. Prasad: BUBBLING EVERYWHERE

Saying it all in a few well-crafted and light sentences and uplifting your mood is what Prasad’s reviews are. The balance that the author achieves in his writing style by alternating between humour and facts is clapworthy. Amongst his 80 excellently-formatted and presented reviews, I have actually endeared his film reviews the most—be it Bollywood or Hollywood, I don’t miss them at any cost. But that doesn’t give you an excuse to miss his equally spell-binding travel and book reviews plus some fantastic tips on tipping, perfect gifts, perfect CVs and some more riveting product reviews. Premjit: MADCAP FUN

Hold your stomach, and purse your lips, and still you’ll end up laughing all the way to the floor. That’s the effect of Prem’s downright hilarious reviews. Talk of ripping blockbuster films and big shows to rags or big stars to pimps, he does everything in a style that makes you dazzle and laugh at the same time. His take on the five worst actors and actresses is to be read to be believed. And his range is not limited either, for he has written some really thought-provoking reviews on books, realistic films and products as well as some very helpful tips alongside as well. Presenting to you, the lightest side of Mouthshut:

Rek:’R’ELISH YOUR’R’EVIEWS!

R for Rek and R for range. Be it her invigorating list of 20 best songs(Hindi, English, R.D. Burman) or magnificient Hollywood film reviews, or her honest book reviews, Rek manages to impress just about everywhere she writes. What amuses me is the cohesiveness and completeness that each of her reviews have, and of course her ripping of Indian telly-serials, which again sends you into a laughter frenzy. Her comments are as hilarious as ever and she remains one of the best star-studded writers on Mouthshut. For a look at the sheer wit and heart the lady carries, visit:

Santosh: WHEN SOUL CREEPS INTO ALPHABETS

Santosh’s reviews were one of the first I had ever read on Mouthshut. In fact, his review on BEST had such an impact on me, that I left my first ever Comment! I have always found his style of narrative so overpowering that its nothing short of inspiring. His review titled Mouthshut Awards 2002 still remains one of the best reviews I have read here, and in case you were wondering as to where did my review on A-Z of Mouthshut came from, well, the idea had budded from Santoz’s excellent A-Z of India’s problems(even though he thinks he created a mess in that one!).His reviews on Bombay, September 11th and Indian Army are yet again, GEMS! Srikantan: CELEBRATE THY CRITIC

There’s something special about Sri, and that’s the critical way in which he assesses everything he reviews. Reviews that press all the thinking buttons in the skull, and words that present different meanings every time you read, Sri’s reviews are so true in their very anatomy and thought, that I never seem to differ with his views. Although each of his reviews stand out, I have found his take on New Delhi, Kama Sutra, Fire, Spider Man, Technology and Beauty Contests to be one of the best works. His reviews on rating and commenting on reviews were so complete, that I dropped the very idea of thinking about them. I also adore his philosophy behind writing reviews in his profile, and try to read it before I start reading every review on mine. To find synonyms to the phrase ‘thought-provoking’, do visit:
