All Hail the Gods of Rock!

What does music mean to you? For me, it means everything. Its not just blasting a fast paced song on tour 40, 000Rs Music System or getting too charged up at a signal when listening to Rage Against The Machine on your MP3 player. There is so much to say on this topic. This is my first ever non-motorcycle review(if you can call it that). So please bear with me.  There is so much to discover, so much to share.

Metallica

One of the best ever rock bands ever. Period.

Some of their unforgettable songs:

UnforgivenI and UnforgivenII: Both are Classics in their own way. Couldn’t have thought that they could better the original Unforgiven song. But I was proved wrong, and how! Two of my best ever songs.

Some other songs woth listening to:

Entersandman

Nothing Else Matters(thanks Nitin)

Turn the page

I Disappear

Master of puppets

The memory remains

Feul

One

Wherever I may roam.

Nirvana

A legend. If you havent heard of Nirvana, you havent heard true music. Look into his eyes in the video of Rape Me you will cry. You have to hear them, to know what I am saying.

Songs worth listening to-

Rape me( My Fav)

Polly

About a girl

All apologies

Pennyroyal tea

Lake of fire(Another great song)

Come as you are

Smells like teen spirit

Linkin Park -

The sensation the generation X is listening to and talking about. The music is not too great, but the fusion is mind blowing. Listen while riding/driving or when you want to unwind and you’ll wanna drive much faster. Pumps some kind of adrenaline in you. But I dont like the attitude they show in their videos.

Songs worth listening to:

Papercut

Numb

Numb Remix

Breaking the habit

Faint

Somewhere I belong

The shut up song

Well, let me be honest here. I’m an old school rock fan(and always will be so). and whenever I see a new age wannabe act like linkin park, limp bizkit etc; I kindof enjoy their work, but only when they r being proclaimed as’rock’ bands do I feel angry. Rock is much more than making loud noices, it is about deep and meaningful lyrics, it’s about haunting solos on the guitar, it’s about arresting, powerful ballads that people will sing even 20 years after they are released, it’s about shifting one’s vocals from a soulful mourn to a full blooded growl in one go. All that these guys(Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit)  manage to do is create a lot of loud voices. But I again state, I like the fusion they bring in their Music.

Skid Row

This metal band is over looked by a lot of fans in favor of flashier alternatives like Guns and Roses, motley crue etc. but trust me, the sheer energy that they exibit, more than makes up for it.

Some Songs-

Quicksand Jesus

Forever

I Remember You

Rattlesnake Shake

Breaking down

Youth gone wild

What You’re Doin

Motley crue

The original bad boys of hair metal, known for their rivalry with G’nR, more popular for drummer Tommy Lee(Pamela Anderson’s Ex)

Some Songs-

Kickstart my heart

Shout with the devil

If I die tomorrow

Dr.feelgood

Bon Jovi

One of my all time favourates. Need I say anything more?

Songs: U Dont know?:D

Van Halen

Eddie Van Halen is best guitarist in the world. period. An experience better heard than explained.

Songs:

Jump

Right here right now

Crossing over

Panama

Eruption

Whitesnake

Its the band by the former lead singer of deep purple.

Songs-

Judgement day

Here I go again

Is this love

Scorpions

This German band is known for creating their own brand of sound. not many bands can claim to have done that. They are mostly known for haunting and powerful anthems.

Songs-

Winds of change

Send me an angel

Holiday

Rock you like a hurricane.

Rock Was Is And always will be the favourite music type for me for years and years to come.

There are many bands I’ve left out. But thats due to lack of space than anything else.

*GnR, Zep, AC DC, Pantera, SlipKnot, RUSH, Dream Theater, Aerosmith, Maiden, Slipknot, Rolling Stones

At the End what I would like to say is-’YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW THE THRILL OF ROCK UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN SOMEONE PERFORMING LIVE AND YOU ARE IN THE FRONT ROW HEAD BANGING TO DEATH’*

ALL HAIL THE GODS OF ROCK!
