My top five (only five!)

How hard was this to pick only five, I could have easily have picked twenty or more. You might not be familiar with most of these as they are in my opinion the cream of British and American comedy.

With a deep breath and in reverse order here goes:

NUMBER FIVE:

The vicar of Dibley,

This show stars Dawn French as a vicar who gets a new parish called Dibley and is met with some opposition as she is a woman and it isn’t a very forward thinking villiage but the comedy is superb as the jokes are thick and fast and has many quirkey characters such as Alice who is a bit dim and is Dawn French’s right hand woman and she had tellytubbies as bridesmaids at her wedding the rest of the cast is just wonderful and they all play brilliant parts and the show always ends in a joke which Alice never understands but sends me int fits of laughter.

NUMBER FOUR:

Absolutely Fabulous,

This is a sidesplittingly funny show about a PR agent called Edina and her friend Patsy who are constantly drinking Bolenger Champagne and vodka and smoke like chimneys. Edina lives in Holland Park a very rich area of London with her sensible daughter Saffron and the things they get up to are simply hilarious.

NUMBER THREE:

Only fools and horses,

This is also set in London but in a poorer area called Peckham and is about two brothers called Del Boy and Rodney and there aim in life is to become millionares.

They sell dodgy goods at low prices and drive a three wheeled van.

Such phrases as You plonker and lovely jubbly are well associated with this show and is one of the best programmes to come out of Britain.

NUMBER TWO:

Father Ted,

This is a show about three priests set in Ireland and in my opinion is the funniest thing to come out of Ireland.

The three priests Father Ted Father McGuire and Father Jack have totally different personalities. Father Ted is the leader and he has a very witty dry sense of humour and keeps the other two in line. Father Dougal McGuire is unbeleavably stupid and the things he says makes me howl with laughter. Father Jack is an elderly drunk and he only knows about three words, DRINK, GIRLS and FECK.

They all live with there housekeeper Mrs Doyle on Craggy island and is one to watch.

NUMBER ONE:

Friends,

It has to be friends. I have all seven series on video and is without a doubt guarenteed to make me laugh every time. The six friends all live in Manhatten and the characters are the best gelled ones I have ever seen on T.V. You could believe that they are real and are very close off screen too.

Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Ross and Chandler have been on our screens for seven series now and the laughter hasn’t fadded one bit. As the show has gone on we have seen Ross and Rachel get together and then Take a break and split up. phoebe go from job to job. Joey gettting bit acting parts and finally Monica and Chandler getting married at the end of series seven. Looking forward to the next series already.

Phew that was hard to only pick five I could have gone on all night and wrote about twenty or more but I think that these are the five best comedy programmes I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

If you get the chance to catch any of these then I highly recommend that you do.
