In fact I am not a AM fan but have closely observed their tough competition
with Nadeem Shrawan in early 90s. Both of duos delivered their best in first
half decade of 90s. Just like NS they also have been accused of plagiarism
of tunes from South Indian music, especially Illiayaraja. Also they have been re-using for several songs
to the extent that listeners feels that they have just recorded singer’s voice
and it has been remixed with their old songs.
I always preferred NS compositions but still AM came up with
couple of excellent compositions. I try to list few of them below:
- Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak(1988):
It was one of their best works. This album re-introduced Udit
Narayan and Alka Yagnik and established them as main stream playback singers.
All the songs were super duper hits.
Sangeet (1992) – Jo Geet Nahin Janma (Pankaj Udhas & Anuradha Paudwal
Dastoor(1991) – Aaja Bahaaron Ki Malika(Abhijeet)
It was a peppy song sung wonderfully by Abhijeet. They often
used Abhijeet’s voice and delivered excellent results even when Kumar Sanu wave
was every where.
- Trinetra (1992) – Main Tujhe Chhod Ke(Kumar Sanu)
This number has three versions, all sung brilliantly by
Kumar Sanu. After listening to all these versions one realizes that exactly why
he ruled music industry over a decade.
- Baaghi (1990) – Chandni Raat Hai(Abhijeet & Sadhana
Sargam)
Wonderful soft and romantic song.
- Yaad Rakhegi Duniya(1993) – Naina O Meri Naina(Amit
Kumar)
Excellent singing by Amit Kumar
- Mere Sajna Saath Nibhana(1992) – Kisi Kaa Dil Na Todna
(Udit Narayan)
This songs sounds a lot like Kurbaan’s Mandir Mein Naa
Masjid Mein sung by Sukhwinder Singh but Udit easily Sukhwinder by his soulful
singing.
- Mere Sajna Saath Nibhana(1992) – Dam Dam Dafli (Udit Narayan)
A nicely sung touching and positive thinking oriented song
by Udit Narayan
9. Deedar (1994) – Deedar Ho Gaya
- Ek Ladka Ek Ladki – Kitna Pyaar Tumhe(Kumar Sanu &
Sadhna Sargam)
Excellent singing by Kumar Sanu and Sadhna.
