Dil Aaj Shayar Hai

The lines from Kavi Gopaldas Neeraj, which haul me out of my qualms. The lines which bring on the inspiration, to continue my life despite the hurdles. Kavi Neeraj, has  always been close to my heart. His poems, his songs and the mode of expressing emotions through lovely symbolism is commendable. Kavi Neeraj belongs to Etawah, Uttar Pradesh and I am one of those few lucky ones to have met him in person. Needless to say that I did not remain the same after that. The aura of poet stays with me till date.

The common factor which I find in all his poems and lyrics written for Hindi movies is the convention of using Nature, as of environment. He always uses flowers, weather and surroundings as such to convey his thoughts. The language or the effect which is churned out is flowery and feels like a respite to ears.

My first choice any day remains:

1)foolon ke rang se, dil kee kalam se, tuz ko likhee roj paatee

kaise bataaoo kis kis tarah se, pal pal muze too sataatee

tere hee sapane lekar ke soyaa, tere hee yaadon mein jaagaa

tere khayaalon mein ulazaa rahaa yoo jaise ke maalaa mein dhaagaa

baadal bijalee chandan paanee, jaisaa apanaa pyaar

lenaa hogaa janam humei kaee kaee baar

itanaa madeer, itanaa madhoor teraa meraa pyaar

lenaa hogaa janam humei kaee kaee baar

The song from Prem Pujari written with most beautiful lyrics ever. The way he symbolizes using colors of flower, the pen of heart just keeps me in awe. Again he uses the symbolism of clouds and rain( things which go hand in hand) and chandan and water( yet again essential to each other); conveying the fact that how much the protagonist’s female love is essential to him. The use of words like madir, madhur, veena, gitanjali  ring lovely music to my ears.

2)Shokhiyon Mein Ghola Jaaye, Phoolon Ka Shabaab

Usmein Phir Milaayee Jaaye, Thodi Si Sharaab

Hoga Yoon Nasha Jo Tayyaar, Haan

Hoga Yoon Nasha Jo Tayyaar, Woh Pyar Hai

Shokhiyon Mein Ghola Jaaye, Phoolon Ka Shabaab

Usmein Phir Milaayee Jaaye, Thodi Si Sharaab

Hoga Yoon Nasha Jo Tayyaar, Woh Pyar Hai

Shokhiyon Mein Ghola Jaaye, Phoolon Ka Shabaab

This comes at the second best of the same movie. Again the symbolism is visible throughout the song. The way he brings out the ardor of love in the beauty of nature is commendable. It can actually make me visualize the intoxication of love getting on to a duo. And if I can see the deep desires running with the words like”Chhedo To Ik Shola Hai, Chhoolo To Bas Shabnam Hai”. Kavi Neeraj yet again churns out a prolific one for the couple deep in love.

3)Rangeela re, ae rangeela

Rangeela re tere rang mein yun ranga hai mera mann

Chhaliya re na bujhe hai kisi jal se yeh jalan

Ho, rangeela re tere rang mein yun ranga hai mera mann

Chhaliya re na bujhe hai kisi jal se yeh jalan

Ho, rangeela re

Palkon ke jhoole se sapnon ki dori

Pyaar ne baandhi jo tune voh todi

Khel yeh kaisa re, kaisa re saathi

Diya to jhoome hain, roye hain baati

Kahin bhi jaaye re, roye ya gaaye re

Chain na paaye re hiyaa

Waah re pyaar, waah re waah

Rangeela re tere rang mein yun ranga hai mera mann

The masterpiece again comes from Prem Pujari. Though I am quite an observant person myself, I could have never realized that how a diya gets unaffected and it’s the baati which burns. Even the usage of eyelashes as a swing and dreams being the string is a stunning symbolism. Perfect wordings for a jilted lover.

4)Meghaa chhaye aadhee raat bairan ban gayee nindeeyaa

bataa de main kyaa karu

sab ke aangan diyaa jale re, more aangan jiyaa

hawaa laage shool jaisee, taanaa maare chunareeyaan

aayee hain aansoo kee baaraat

ruthh gaye re sapane saare, toot gayee re aashaa

nain bahe re gangaa more, fir bhee man hain pyaasaa

kise kahoo re man kee baat

Kavi Neeraj has probably the capability to be in the shoes of the protagonist, might it be male or female. This song from Sharmili, just makes me feel the passions of a woman waiting for love. As it goes without fail he again uses the symbolism of the nature and surrounding objects.”Sab ke aangan diyaa jale re, more aangan jiyaa hawaa laage shool jaisee, taanaa maare chunareeyaan”  is the representation of a person who cannot find happiness in anything and even a wisp of air lashes her.

5)Dil aaj shayar hai, gum aaj nagma hai, shab yeh ghazal hai sanam

Dil aaj shayar hai, gum aaj nagma hai, shab yeh ghazal hai sanam

Gairon ke sheron ko o sunnewale, ho is taraf bhi karam

This song from Gambler again signifies the heart being the poet, the sorrow being the song and the surroundings being the melody risen from it. He again brings out the utmost sorrow in marvelously penned https://lyrics. Even the symbolism of using the tears to sew the injury is laudable.

Today I give an ovation to the lyricist of all times and, endeavor towards reaching the scale of similar symbolism. Or I must correct myself Padma Bhushan Kavi Gopaldas Neeraj will always be an aim I will strive to gain.
