I think its the absolute truth, very rightly said by Gopal Das Neeraj, more commonly known as Neeraj thatEveryone **who is in love is a poet".
*Actually I stumbled upon this category"Five Best songs of Neeraj" when I was searching S D Burman on MS as its his birth anniversary today.I did not find any category for it, but I realised one of the movies for which he gave music was SHARMILI and its songs were written by Neeraj. So this review is a kind of small tribute to great S D Burman who gave great and unforgettable music and sang beautifully himself sometimes.
Now the person in focus, Neeraj, I think he wrote great songs but limited, I wish he could have written more.
Five best songs of him according to me are-
1.Karawan gujar gaya, gubar dekhte rahe.is by far the most famed song of him from movie NAI UMAR KI NAI FASAL.sung by Mohammed Rafi .
2.Aaj madhosh hua jae re mera man, mera man, mera man. from SHARMILI.sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar.
3.Khilte hain gul yahan, khil ke bikhar ne ko.also from SHARMILI. sung by Kishore Kumar.
4.Likhe jo khat tujhe.from KANYADAAN.sung by Mohammed Rafi.
5.Aye bhai jara dekh ke chalo.from MERA NAAM JOKER.sung by Mukesh.
He achieved much acclaim as a poet and then attracted Hindi film industrys attention, but soon left them too, as he would write in pure Hindi and did not like that his poems were manipulated to movies needs or was asked to simplify them or add Urdu words to it.
Not seen now, but people say when he was young, he was alcoholic and would carry alcohol bottle with him on Kavi sammelan(poets confluence)venue, a failed love affair made him a poet, it seems.
Thanks for reading my review.
