Hi all being a moviefreak I wanna discuss 5 such movies which deserved to be hits but unfortunately they didnt deserve much success..The list is as follows:-
1)Black - I think this was one of the finest movies made in the history of indian cinema after a long long time.The subject was quite strong & different.The direction was excellent(courtesy Sanjay Bhansali) after the over hyped devdas.Perfomances especially frm the lead pairs, Big B & Rani was awesome.It was a tough subject handled very nicely & kudos to everyone associated with the movie.I think the movie deserved to be a big hit which unfortunately was an average hit.
2)Khakhee - One of the most hard hitting pacy films which is released in some time.With top notch perfomances from all the lead cast & a nice twist in the tale in the end.Big B again with a powerful perfomance again in a cop’s role ala zanjeer.Ajay Devgan as the bad guy with that cruel look on his face really impressed me.Akshay also gave good support.Overall the movie was rocking but the audience wasnt.
3)Sarfarosh - A very interesting plot with good songs & amir khan.Though there had been similar kind of movies released before in regards with terrorism & underworld & stuff but this movie was treated in a very diff way.it looked realistic & was really gripping.Amir was at his best & the role suited him to the tee, even sonali bendre looked stunning & chirpy with her ’Dont Mind’ gettin popular.Songs were excellent which in a movie like this seem secondary.It was a excellent debut by the director john matthan but havent heard of him since then.I think the movie deserved lots of acclaim then it did.
4)Lakshya - Undoubtedly Hrithik’s best perfomance till date.A movie based on how a carefree reckless guy transforms himself into a army officer & fights for his country.The movie was superior in terms of cinematography, perfomances, direction.Though it was slow at places but that hardly matterred since the film was a well made sensible film.Kudos to farhan akhtar for comin up with a serious thought provoking film after the superb fun filled dil chahta hai.The movie didnt go down with the masses too well which I feel is sad for a quality product like lakshya.
5)Swades - Ashutosh Gowariker strikes back again with Swades after the super Lagaan.But unfortunately Swades didnt match lagaan’ success(not even with SRK).I guess the audience found the subject too dry devoid of any masala.But I think the indian audience should come of age & start accepting such kind of cinema rather than the usual routine stuff.It was a movie which was superior in product amongst the movies released during that time.SRK not in his conventional lover boy role was a treat to watch.Songs I agree were not that great but the movie was a novel treat & a path breaking one.
