They say that beauty is within the eye of the beholder, but the way I look at it, true beauty is within the heart of the beholder.
To me, a beautiful woman is the one whom I would like to see the first thing every morning when I wake up.
I know that definition of beauty differs from man to man. So, I won?t dwell into the many a dictionaries for the exact meaning of beauty. I also know that the true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul; it is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows; the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows ...
So, without much adieu, let me list the top five most beautiful Indian actresses who I am admired over the years. I won?t commit the cardinal sin of ranking them, as they are beautiful to me in different ways, which is so very unique to them!
1) Madhubala: A classic beauty. Beautiful hair, deep eyes, shapely nose and a perfect smile. Easily the most beautiful woman in the history of the Indian film industry, according to me. Nothing better than seeing a beautiful lady apologising so vulnerably to her love- Dev Anand in the song ?Accha ji main haari, chalo maan jao naa.?
Even after years of her death, we can still find most of the poster wallahs having beautiful posters of Madhubala....need I say any more than that she is an eternal beauty?!
2) Raveena Tandon: I was in complete awe when I first saw her in the movie- Patthar ke Phool. Her rather confused yet innocent expression impressed me, more so, in one of my favourite movies- Andaz Apna Apna! Apart from her looks, I liked her big round earrings and the long (denim) skirts she used to wear in the initial part of her career.
3) Sadhna: A perfect wife material! Yes, so feminine, graceful, traditional! She had such a soothing face and such a comforting smile. Sadhna hairstyle was very popular in yesteryears!
I liked her a lot in Ek Musafir Ek Hasina especially when she gets jealous and then imitates the other girl with whom she (Sadhna) sees with Joy Mukherjee. I?ve always maintained that (positive) jealousy and possessiveness for her man always makes woman more beautiful!
4) Priety Zinta: She is energy personified. I wouldn?t call her exactly beautiful but she is definitely pretty and cute. And those dimples on her cheeks add to her looks! I am fascinated by her lips!
She seems to have a very easygoing attitude with no air around herself which makes her even more attractive.
I liked her in Dil Se where she coolly asks Shah Rukh ?Are you a virgin?!? and in Dil Chahta Hain with Aamir Khan especially in the metro rail subway scene where she sighs a relief seeing Aamir Khan coming back to protect her, when she was terrified when the old man was walking towards her with lusty looks.
5) Poonam Dillon: Her simplicity is what makes her more beautiful. She had such a pleasant smile and a very expressive face.
I liked watching her in Karma and a host of Kumar Gaurav movies.
Oscar Hammerstein once said Do you love me because Im beautiful, or am I beautiful because you love me? which reiterates the same thing with which I started out this review that-its all upto how the person perceives beauty in his own special and unique way.
Nobody is ugly in this world....everybody is beautiful in their own ways. And let?s all celebrate that!
Till next time,
Keep smiling INDIA, Chhail ;-)
