This book was obtained a while ago from a book vendor whose modest shop by the streets is part of an open circulation library in my city. In this circuit, you buy a book for a negotiable price and return it at any date and time to recieve half the amout back. I generally buy these novesl and keep them since they are great values for the money I pay for them.
So, I was quite thrilled to read this book because it was billed as the authors greatest and was about IIT, and my father went to IIT, so I figured Id get a glimpse into what his life wouldve have been like. Because this was not my first Chetan Bhagat novel, I didnt have high hopes for the language.
The Five Point Someone had no language, no tale and no characterisation at all. Mr. Bhagar, if you think you can sell books by relying on the IIT brand nae, this work will prove you mistaken and delusory. The characters were not only chummy, foolish and monotonous but they were alsp unbelievable to be IIT material.
To conclude:
This book didnt work for me. It tells the story of three freshman geeks at IIT Delhi. The beginning is filled with humorous stories about difficult lectures, nasty teachers and bumbling dudes attempting to chat with girls. However, as the book progresses, the author abandons comedy in favour of some kind of character development that, to be honest, was quiet boring. I just couldnt bring myself to take it up and keep reading, so Im not sure how it even ends. But certain about the negative impact it has on my mind about the worsening condition of literature in contemporary periods.
