Rabba inhe actor kyon banaya??

In Hindi films, acting is most of the times equivalent to hamming endlessly and getting typecast in larger than life images. But, even then there are some actors who try and give different dimensions to the same  clichéd characterization, I must say that they are really talented and highly tolerant!! But, there are some actors who can’t even do that, they are as wooden as a doorknob and stand like mere props in the whole film or deliver their dialogues in a typical c grade nautanki fashion, and they are not necessarily the main lead. Actors/actresses of the latter category form my list (shall I pay them my gratitude?! I don’t think so!!).

  1. Jagdeep:-  In my opinion he is the worst comedian in the whole world. He walks and talks like a buffoon, and his mere presence in any film is enough for me to curse the director for casting him. I think he should take some comedy lessons from his son Javed Jaffery who has a much better comic timing. [films where he is at his worst are:- Saamri(where he imitates Michael    Jackson !!), Nigahen etc.]

  2. Suneil Anand :- For those who don’t know him, he was Dev Anand’s son who was launched by his father in the eminently forgettable ANAND aur ANAND, and then did three or four films before realizing that he is better suited for martial arts than putting on the greasepaint. What I fail to understand is why on earth did his father launch him as an actor because he could neither act, nor looked good on screen. In fact, he looked like a caricature of his handsome father. [films where he is at his worst are:- all his films!! Most notably Master.]

  3. Mandakini:-   Now we know why film makers were forced to sign her in big budget films ( because of her alleged connection with an underworld don). Agreed, she was beautiful and had raw sex appeal (only according to frontbenchers like my servant who thinks she rocks!!), but what about her acting skills?? Sorry, it was in the negative. She proves that beauty without grace and expressions makes one a mere mannequin on screen. [films where she is at her worst are:- Commando, Pyar Mohabbat etc.]

  4. Hemant Birje:-   He was the quintessential hero of Ramsay Bros’ and Bhakri horror films in the 1980’s. Whether he was punching the ‘aatma’ or romancing the heroines in the skimpiest of outfits his expression was the same. In my opinion he looked befitting in the title role of Tarzan which was his debut film, simply because he did not have to deliver dialogues!! [films where he is at his worst are:-Veerana, Maar Dhaad etc.]

  5. Rahul Roy:-  I sometimes seriously think why a talented actor like Deepak Tijori was relegated to a supporting role in Aashiqui when he was certainly much more talented than the lead actor of the film?? Granted, Rahul Roy’s character in the film is similar to his real life but can this be a pre-condition to cast a non actor like Mr. Rahul Roy? No wonder, his career came to a halt even after debuting in such a huge hit. He should really be grateful to music directors Nadeem  Shravan who were actually responsible for giving his career a flying start.

In the end, I want to say that I don’t have any personal grudges against any of them, maybe they are nice people in real life but as a connoisseur of films, I think they are/were in the wrong profession.
