Humse Badhkar Kaun???

The Indian Film Industry is full of the good, the bad and the ugly. Here is an honest attempt to list five of the umpteen flop stars that come to my mind off-hand. Here goes:

Pradeep Kumar

In case this man had ever fallen sick, the directors of his films could have very well continued their shootings by replacing him with a stone. I could never ever see any expressions on this man’s face. He had attained what only saints could achieve: The power of staying unperturbed! May it be a beautiful girl wooing him, or anyone shouting abuses at him. Under both the situations, the expression on Pradeep Kumar’s face never wavered.....he just looked at his co-star with a permanent question mark on his face. He, along with Bharat Bhushan, owe their whole career not to their own talent, but to the talent of the music directors of their films.

Joy Mukherjee

Remember this lady-like hero of yesteryears? The one who competed with Asha Parekh, Mala Sinha and Nanda in matters related to the size of the....ummm...anyway! He along with Biswajeet were the folks who roamed about in the movie like a sack of grains.(Ok! I know sack do not move around!) If you notice the movies of these heroes, you will observe that whatever movies did do well, did so on the sole shoulders of the comedian of the movie. May it be Mehmood in Main Sunder Hoon or I.S.Johar in Shagird.

While we are on Joy Mukherjee, here’s a joke I heard somewhere. They say that Joy Mukherjee was formerly a salesman selling Anacin tablets. His boss paid him salary for not returning back to him and continuing doing his films. According to him, Joy Mukherjee’s working in films was his best bet to rope in more buyers for Anacin. Hahaha!

Rajendra Kumar

Known as Jubilee Kumar, he had a set of fans who never missed his movies. Still, for the life of me, I cannot recollect a single extraordinary performance by this man who has the highest numbers of Silver Jubilees to his credit.

Himalay (I think....)

I even forgot his name. I am talking about the fellow who married the Maine Pyaar Kiya star Bhagyashree. Boy....here was a man who could easily stake claim to the throne of Pradeep Kumar. He could easily pass off as a prop in the imagination of the art director. I can almost imagine the art director shouting on the sets - The table on the right corner, the divan in the center, and let Himalay occupy the left corner of the frame.

Kishen Kumar

A millionaire brother, a BIG film producing music company for a backing.....and still this boy could never make a mark in the industry. I guess he forgot that apart from all the things mentioned, one needs a wee bit talent to make it to the hearts of the audience. Forget the looks!

So folks....these are five worst actors that come to my mind. Of course, there are many more.....many many more.....many many many.......sigh
