An Ode To Indian Bikes

This article does not contain any new or useful information and is certainly not about the worst bikes of India. The reason that this article is in this category is that I couldn?t figure the right category for it.

I am merely experimenting and I hope that you people find it entertaining. Myself as well as others have analyzed the topic of Indian bikes to death, here at MouthShut, so to break the monotone, the new style of writing. Please thank Nannybiker if you like this article, for it is he who has encouraged me to write differently. So? here goes:

Bajaj Pulsar

Three years ago, appeared the Pulsar

One look at it and people said?Oh! What a bulky racer?

Bajaj said?we will beat the CBZ in it own game,

What?s in the Honda name?

Pulsar was appreciated for speed, average and shape of tank,

And so Bajaj laughed all the way to the bank.

Bajaj Discover

Last year, Bajaj unveiled the Discover

This bike had the others running for cover

Twin spark plugs and a torque chamber, it sported

For these, ?Best Bike of the Year? it got voted

Said Bajaj? Can any other maker offer such a bike at this price?

Said we all?Thank you! You are very nice?

Honda Unicorn

The time had come to brandish the Honda name

Out from their stables, the Unicorn came

It had both quality and power

But is it really better than the Pulsar or Discover?

Say those all who have ridden it??its much much better?

A shaky tail and a poor horn

Are some of the niggles in the Unicorn

To most buyers these do not matter,

?Cause all they ask is?.?when will Honda deliver?

Hero Honda Super Splendor

Out came the Super Splendor with its 9.1 bhp quantum core

Groaned the enthusiasts?oh! What a bore!?

Said Munjal?you enthusiasts are not my priority,

I cater to the vast and silent commuting majority.?

Hero Honda Karizma

To impresses the classes and the masses,

Came the Karizma with 17 horses,

Underpowered and overprized

The Public criticized

We will correct that, Munjal cried.

And reduced the price by nine grand

Yet they?re very few in the parking stand

Yamaha Fazer

Shares the name with its international counterpart

But that?s where the similarity ends

?Cause they have no common auto-part.

Said Yamaha? It has only 125 cc,

But it?ll beat every Indian bike, you?ll see.

Please understand, we too have to make money.

We are tired of the admirers,

We would now like some buyers.?

Yet this very pragmatic ideal went for a toss

When the headlight was approved by the boss.

When the bike filled fear in every child?s face

Did they realize that they misjudged Indian taste.

PS: I have asked Mouthshut support to create a category for general biking articles, but am yet to recieve a response.
