Yeh Dil Mange No More !!!

The new request on Mouthshut on 5 worst movies on Shahrukh Khan tempted me to write on this one while I was planning my review on 5 best actors of Bollywood in continuation to my series of reviews on worsts and bests.

So coming to the point, 5 worst, isn’t this too small a figure for the King Khan. Shahrukh can be termed as one of those actors who has become stereotyped. Whenever he dared to do anything different, he was very pathetic. This reflected on all his movies .(All my sympathies to the remaining cast and crew of all such movies). Subhash Ghai realized his idiocy and is a happy man with a Joggers park. I see times when YC and KJ would also come to terms with their follies and be happy after handling and undergoing the torture of speech abnormalities.

  1. Chamatkar :

Chamatkar didn not do any “chamatkar” to his careet and instead all the appreciation went to Nasseeruddin Shah for playing the goody ghost in this movie. SRK as usual stammered to his heart full and did all the monkey tactics to win his lady love. Shahrukh teaming up with Urmila, tried comedy for the first time and the result was catastrophic. Comedy is not just his cup of tea. I came up to a conclusion after watching this movie…..”Shahrukh’s comedy…Audience’s tragedy…”

  1. Koyla :

Shahrukh doing a deaf and dumb role in this one. This time the audience was bared from his regular stammering torture. His face clearly depicts the frustration of not being able to do so. The movie being a violent love story, was packed with romance and action. He jumped from n number of mountains or trees to fight the villains and tried his best to make his performance look real…alas..!! could not help this King to reign. With his pathetically torn face and sickening expressions, he made the audience and the producers cry for their money. Madhuri too was banking on this movie for a hit, but to no fault of hers..this film bombed. Trying to give a more rural look to SRK, he looked like something else….…? No depth and no passion shown in his performance. Rakesh Roshan had his share of torture and swore to not to repeat any of his mistakes again.

  1. Duplicate :

Shahrukh in double role…..means keeping a stock of aspirins near you. Teaming up with Juhi and Sonali this time….Shahrukh experimented comedy combined with villainy. Turning to be a villain in the real sense for his producers as they cry to their heart out after the movie bombed at the box office. Continuing with his “I – m – the - best attitude, he would have expected the audience to shower him with the appreciation instead what he got can very well be guessed after the film released. I saw this movie only because of Juhi. Shahrukh plays around switching from good one to the bad guy. He looks pathetic in this 2 characters. No synchronization between the emotions and the character. He wretched this two characters. Hence the outcome was the performance was too pitiable.

  1. Mohabattein

I loved this movie for Big B’s performance. SRK looks so small and negligible in front of the Solid Big B. AB’s charishma and his powerful screen presence nullifies SRK totally. He looked very feeble compared to the character of the movie. The character demanded a person with strong personality and who could give a performance neck to neck to Big B. But sigh !! Teaming up with Ash this time, he just got dragged away and one could clearly see him smitten by Big B’s performance. The fresh look came from the youngsters and the matured performance from Big B..then what did he do ?

5. Chalte Chalte

I feel this film was greatly inspired by “Saathiya”, The only advantage of this film was Rani. SRK again take to his same old ways of snatching the heroine, and she just gets dragged just because she don’t have any choice. Some of the scenes after marriage where SRK and Rani are shown fighting on trivial issues, I feel SRK lacked confidence and just could not come up with the right emotion of getting angry. Even while doing that, it seemed that he was so conscious of Rani. Comparing his performance to Vivek’s performance, Vivek looked more real and related to the character very well. I asked my hubby as I walked out of the theatre ki “ Ki yeh Kya tha ? Kya Hum Yeh Dekhne Aaye the ? My hubby just smiled… and I was like….what ?

Many movies like Trimurti, Maya Memsaab, Darling Yeh Hain India, English Babu, Desi Mem, King Uncle, Anjaam, Guddu, Zamana Deewana, One 2 ka Four, Dil Aashna Hain, Guddu , Raam Jaane etc….come as Shahrukh’s worsts.

Seeing his mentality and character, it seems that he feels that he is the best thing to have happened to the Indian Film Industry. I think then he should show this in his performance for the audience to say this. More maturity and variety is now expected from him.

So here’s defining SRK in one line :

“ Har role to ek hi tarah se karke deekhanewale ko Shahrukh Kehte hain.”
