My opinion- beware

There?s a shock for all people who expect all K-serials in this block, for I firmly believe that drama is as much a part of TV viewership as is fiction to reading. And family dramas are no exceptions. Besides, Ekta?s serials are far ahead of the rest (like the ones I am writing below) where main storyline, characters, dramatization and screenplay cum presentation is concerned.

Though I do agree that the stories of each of them becomes monotonous and crossover, rather predictable and boring, and characters are rather much the doormats, dominants or ?sauts?, neither am I an avid soap watcher, yet I will not include any Ekta Kapoor soaps as there are other serials much more worse, whose names deserve utmost priority in the list of ?five worst serials?.

1) Bhabhi - Good lord! I do not understand this soap. The character of ?Pushpa? cum ?Saroj? is not convincing, nor is the lead who plays it. She tries too hard to be a Parvati, but ends up being a copycat. Her dialogue-delivery seems somewhat unreal, nobody speaks in that self- sacrificing manner. The storyline is pathetic, having wandered from the original story(which my mom found interesting- Mistaken bride identity) to?Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam?, ?Devdas? and lots more. Perhaps it is inspired by Ekta?s twists.

Add to that the hero changed thrice, whose character is not properly sketched. The look of the serial is not appealing as a whole. The only time I liked a bit of it was that the ?Bhabhi? hushed her sister-in law?s unwed pregnancy by claiming to be pregnant herself, without raising a hush and cry.

2) Des Mein Niklaa Hoga Chand - Started as an NRI love story, could have been successful, but was stretched needlessly. I mean, when the boy?s good, what problems can there be for the marriage? Varun Badola did a good job earlier, then the plastic surgery affair seemed ridiculous, and I frankly speaking have never liked ?Pammi? who is very unnatural and claims a lot, though many people admire her. Now the serial has become even worse!

3) Shagun - I don?t know it has gone off air or not, but it?s worthless. Started off as a story of a girl held ?unlucky for all?, now it?s just wandered. It?s so confusing, the way she fell in love so often, her daughter and all. I don?t watch it at all, but all I know is that it tried too hard to become an Ekta Kapoor type. Don?t dare to watch repeat telecasts!!!

4) Sanjivani - So sad, but that?s it. It?s largely unbelievable, for doctors are neither adulterous, nor the complete angels like Dr. Shashank who says, ?everything will be all right? and one long lecture on life and problems.Do they have all that time when the patient is dying? Worse, the characters of the interns, when the show, started changed rapidly, and now they are all family types, (when do they go to hospital, and when did they graduate?) Omi left long ago. Juhi is hopeless, too pompous. Could have been so much better, if it had not changed its storyline for quick TRP?s. Patience counts, so sad!!

5) Shaka Laka Boom Boom - It is one story, that has Harry Potter- Superman- Magic Pencil- Jadoo the alien all in one. Was quite famous among kids initially, but later lost attention.

There are many others, like Kahaani Teri Meri , Lipstick , Kahiin Kissi Roz and others. But they had a certain pluspoint, either the suspense, sets, or even Ramola?s bindis, for which they were awaited. The ones above however have nothing to offer.

PS- These are solely my own views from what I have observed around me. A person who has watched them for a very long time may like them still, though I don?t think so.
