Seriously difficult

IF you ask someone to pick five worst songs of A.R. Rehman, he will really toil really hard to do so.

Anyways, I have chosen to write and thus will have to provide the list to all my friends. I have mostly heard his Hindi numbers and thus I will only include them. So here it goes:

1. Oh Saiyaan Yaa - Movie: Daud

There is a huge potential in S. P. Balasubramanyam and Asha Bhonsle. But in this particular song, A.R. Rehman simply fails to exploit it. A very regular kind of song with nothing new in it. Even the scales are not new and he had used them a number of times.

2. No Problem - Movie: Love Birds

It does not matter if it is a duet between A.R. Rehman and Apache Indian. Apache Indian’s portion is excellent but as soon as Rehman come into singing, the song turns from Regge to something unique which is nowhere soothing to ears.

3. Khel hai ye khiladi ka - Movie: Khel Khiladi ka

A remake of superhit Telegu movie Super Police, the movie came and passed. The song in Telegu movie was much better sung and the vocals matched the music. The Hindi version is actually opposite to the original one. With kaam chalaau lyrics by P. K. Misra, you cannot expect much. The words are written only to match the rhyme scheme. A poor song indeed.

4. Columbus - Movie: Jeans

I am still not able to understand the meaning of the song. The song should be complete. Good composition is not the only thing in a song. It should have good vocals, good arrangement and really meaningful https://lyrics. This song lack in all the things except for composition and vocals. A wastage of a nice composition.

5. Khoyi Khoyi Aankhen - Movie: Tehzeeb

Simply not worth. Too much repetitive. Songs of this kind have been heard a number of times from A. R. Rehman’s camp. It looked like he had to finish off the movie and he was running short of time and the result came in this form. The rhythm breaks a lot of times in this song which is not soothing to ears. Definitely a forgettable song.

So friends, my five are over but the list can continue. There are lot of other songs which are simply a replica of his older versions. Infact Mil gayee Mil gayee from the movie Kabhi na Kabhi is the hindi version of the famous Anjali Anjali from telegu movie Duet.

I agree that Rehman has given a newer kind of music to Indian Cinema, but the music was not always memorable and good.

Good or Bad - Comments welcome.
