It takes a good amount of time to give a honest feedback about a companys services; and I am writing this after more than 25-30 orders since the inception of the website when it used to only sell books.
Before reading any further, please be informed that I am not posting this review suddenly after a bad experience, unlike many other reviews here which look like being written by people who are angry and enraged at Flipkart.
The marketplace model which was followed by Amazon(under Junglee) and Ebay earlier in India depends on the effectiveness of the companys fulfillment team which needs to ensure that an order is taken care of from the beginning to the end. Amazon is a revolutionary in this field because of this reason.
In fact, the only major differentiating factor among these websites is how successful are they in bridging the gap between their buyers and sellers. Ebay was not very good in doing that earlier, but they seem to have learnt from their mistakes in the recent few years.
Flipkart started off with sourcing, warehousing and shipping products on their own. This meant that they did not have to deal with evil sellers who took the order and then cancelled it due to either demand-supply gap or greed. Since it started the marketplace model, Flipkart seems to have lost credibility among the once loyal customer base, which included professionals whod rather pay more than have to keep calling the customer service to followup on their own.
