WHY I HATE FLY MOBILE
Before wasting your time reading through I would like to tell you bottom-line is that
style=">FLY MOBILEs are really pathetic crap of a communication device producer, if it is enough you may leave the restand never ever buy a FLY MOBILE
product or if you didn’t really understand please carry along.
First I tell you why I went for this handset from FLY
MOBILE. I am a music junkie and I like to carry my music with me, and
for two years I was carrying on with my Sony Ericsson which was a hell lot of
good phone, but unfortunately they don’t market dual-SIM phones and above all
do not provide 3.5 audio jacks except for a couple of high end handsets. I
wanted a handset which makes me dispense with carrying two phones a music
player and a 3.5 audio-jack so I can upgrade to headset of my choice. After
researching I came across FLY MC-160 which looked quiet impressive. The
features which clinched the deal in favour FLY
MOBILE were:
Ø Dual-SIM
stand-by,
Ø Audio
by YAMAHA chip
Apart from
these two basic deal-clinchers the FLY
MOBILE MC-160 boasted of 3MP camera, touch screen, motion sensor, FM
radio, widgets etc.
And the
experience I had with FLY MOBILE
MC-160 is really marvelous, the Dual-SIM functions perfectly well and
quiet smooth, the audio quality is really good for a handset in this range and
the earphones provided generated decent quality of music, the user interface is
quiet easy and one can within few moments master them.
But the real
problem with this FLY MOBILE MC-160
is the built quality of accessories, camera output and software. After a couple
days of use of FLY MOBILE MC-160
I figured out that the software selects itself what type of ringtone it should
play irrespective of the selection of ringtones you have made for different
SIM’s it becomes the game of musical chair and one is at the mercy of software
what you hear. Second if you are accessing through side-bar widgets of the FLY MOBILE MC-160, it will
automatically switch-off without any reason and dare you try it again. Most of
the time when you try to forward sms received on SIM1 from SIM2 service
provider the phone will automatically switch off. If this is not enough the
phone will switch off any time while idling or charging if it deems fit that it
has not troubled you off late.
Next comes camera, though it is quiet
understood that at this budget you won’t be getting a standalone camera of
decent quality but why make a mockery of 3MP camera, in distant past Nokia6600
had a VGA camera ant it used to generate much better images than what this FLY MOBILE MC-160 produces. The
owner feels embarrassed to tell someone when they ask that it is a 3MP camera.
Now the great
hardware, though the body of handset is of robust quality but they could have
done a bit more, the chrome plating at the rim of front started losing sheen
from the second month itself and the handset looks a cheap Chinese phone, and o
my god the keypad I guarantee you when you will be typing on it, it can put the
thump of a Royal Enfield motorcycle to shame and it will win hands down dare
some Royal Enfield biker challenges it. The microphone casing at hands free
came-off in the second week and the dual purpose data cable cum travel charger
provided with FLY MOBILE MC-160
is a piece of joke it’s a game of wheel of fortune from third month onwards. It
is at its own mood whether it wants to connect with PC or really wants you to
charge the battery so that you can have a decent talk.
Now comes the
servicing part. When you encounter such type of you hope that the service
provider at service centre will help you, but first FLY MOBILE don’t have much of them if they do they are
manned by bunch of jokers who will recommend software upgrade 90% of time no
matter what is the problem with your handset and one can bid bye-bye to data
stored, different applications downloaded and the precious sms. And mind you
they will ask you for 24 hours at least for this crap of service, better they
didn’t told me that for travel charger I will have to take software upgrade.
And voila even after two software upgrades the problem persists.
