FM Radio, what a large topic to cover. I will take you on a sentimental journey through my favorite FM station here in South Florida (USA).
MAGIC 102.7 FM
Magic brings you back to the wonderful years of music. The 50s through the late 60s(with a bit of the early 70s thrown in).
On Sunday nights from 7P.M. until midnight, Ken Held takes you on a journey back to the magical music of the 50s and early 60s with his Do Wop Shop. He plays the innocent love songs, sung by the clean cut groups. You Belong To Me....Stardust....Why Do Fools Fall In Love....Tears On My Pillow....Angel Baby.... Love Letters....etc. He plays the the original rock and roll, Rock Around The Clock....Leader Of The Pack....Can I Come Over Tonight?....Jailhouse Rock His show is where youll hear Bill Haley and the Comets, The Duprees, The Big Bopper etc, etc, etc.
During the day you can tune in to listen to the music of, The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Four Seasons, Jan & Dean, The Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight & The Pips and all the greats.
At times they bring you back even further in time and you can hear Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, and some of the other greats of the late 40s into the early 50s.
The music on Magic truly is Magic. It transforms you back to a time of innocence. Before the recordings of the Bad Boy groups. Before the yelling and shouting of the metal music. And (thank goodness) before RAP!
At times it makes me want to be able to go back in time. To relive those wonderful years and hear that music live.
Id love to be able to see Fats Domino in person, rather than hear him on the radio, it would be great to be able to go to a show and see The Temptations, Gene Pitney, Bobby Vee and all the rest.
But for now, I have to settle for listening to all of them(and many more!) on Magic 102.7 FM.
In my opinion, the best in good music on FM radio.
