Their jingle: The best part of wakin Up...is Folgers in your cup
I first started drinking Folgers brewed coffee in the mid 70s when my parents moved from Canada to Kentucky. My mother talked about this mountain grown coffee as if it was gold and I have to say, it was a treasure indeed for the everyday coffee drinker. Almost 20 years later it still is the preferred coffee in my home. I love the aroma of this coffee first thing in the morning and the taste cant be beat.
Folgers comes in a variety of everyday blends from Classic Roast (which is the one I prefer) to decaffeinated. Theres also gourmet blends and instant coffee for the individual cup of coffee, although I have never been an instant coffee drinker, out of personal preference. A little bit of everything for those coffee lovers out there. Even though Im not an instant coffee drinker I do purchase is and keep it in the freezer to use in coffee cake recipes.
Whole Beans: Classic Supreme, Classic Supreme Decaf, French Vanilla, 100% Columbian, Hazelnut and French Roast.
Ground Coffee: Classic Roast, Gourmet Supreme, 100% Columbian, French Roast, Breakfast Blend and Lite Classic Roast.
Decaf Coffee: Classic Roast Decaf
Instant Coffee: Instant Coffee, Coffee Singles and now Cafe Latte (which is fairly new).
Folgers ground coffee and whole beans are designed to be used in any drip coffee machine, is manufactured by Proctor & Gamble and has been around for 150 years.
It has a shelf life of up to 2 year unopened (the longest being the vacuum packed bags and cans) and when opened on an average of one month (suggested to keep it in a cool place with the whole beans being stored in the freezer). My coffee never lasts long enough to worry about storing conditions. Mind you I do buy 5 or 6 cans, at one time, when it goes on sale.
Its funny but until today when I was writing this, I hadnt bothered to read the brewing directions on the side of the can. They suggest 1 1/2 tbsp. per 6 oz. cup but I have long since used 5 tbsp. per pot and it suits me just fine.
Well excuse me but all this talk of Folgers has me wanting to make another pot. Yes Im addicted to the stuff but what can I say. Enjoy!
