> The following is my explaination....well, my .....my account of ...well, what happened. Its a loop actually. Many a times you go about searching for something and you will land up in finding something else... Its very difficult to explain.
OK. I will try....
> I am a movie buff and I follow good movies from all corners of the world. Like always I was searching for some good titles to watch for on the net and I came across this good one called The fight Club .While I was trying to search for more info about it I have also found out that Requiem for a dream is also a good one too and in a series of searches on google.com I stumbled upon this movie called Memento and watched it too. After watching it my search for more titles continued and came across this movie called Following by the director of Memento, Christopher Nolan.
> Memento is his second movie the first one is Following.Thats how I followed a lots of movie titles to find this wonderful neo-noir film. This movie was made in almost No budget with all new actors. Its full of suspense, full of surprises and its non linear narrative that jumps back and forth , plays with the timelines and very carefully reveals and hints the viewers with the information in the right quantities keeping the viewer on the edge of the seat till the end.The movie is in black and white and I didnt find any reason for not being it in color.
> The story is about a lonely wannabe writer who follows strangers.Ironically, we latter realise that it is him who is being followed.WHile he is following he is also being followed by another person and they both come together as a team and rob houses. The reason for their sinful act is rightly justified with their philosophy which I would not like to reveal here. The plot thickens when a new female character enters the story. The first half hour of the film which runs in a lighter mode slowly catches up and soon the follower is caught in a web of crime that involves blood and money. Its the ending that keeps you puzzled and entertained.
> If Quentin Tarantino has made a name for his non linear narrative then Christopher Nolan is the one to watch for his highly accalimed non linear narration in both Memento and Following. In Memento the END is actually The Beggining. If you watch Following on DVD check out the option to watch the movie in a liner narration. But do watch the movie as its is in the first go.Check out the Liner Option only in the repeated viewing.
> The movie was entirely shot on real locations and at friends hoses. One thing that is commendable in this movie is the editing. For most cine goers the power of editing in most movies in unknown but when you watch Memento/Following it will introduce you to the concept of editing and the power of it. Being an aspiring film maker its a movie that has inspired me to move forward in my film making career.
Do watch it ...I am sure youll like it.
