Choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khans second movie FAF is as terrible as his first - "Lakeer". It seems that some people dont learn from mistakes. Ahmed Khan is one such moron of a director. He tries to tickle our funny bones this time and he fails miserably. This action comedy is highly avoidable, right from the first reel to the last.
I have always tried to refrain from writing about the plot in most of my reviews. Even if Id have to let you know what this movie is all about, Id fail to do so. This misadventure has no such thing as a script and hence, it has no plot. Ahmed Khan tries to pack in action with fun but neither do we get to have fun nor are the action scenes well-executed (we have seen better action). The first half drags so much that you feel like leaving the multiplex as soon as possible. Infact you pray that the movie gets over soon. FAF is one of the worst comedies made in recent times. You can compare this boring movie with horrible flicks like "Vivaah" and "Bunty aur Babli".
The performances are equally bad. Id prefer calling it "fooling around" in this case. But the actors here dont even fool around properly. Had they done so, we would have some good time laughing. Paresh and Johny do give us a few funny scenes but they are not upto the mark. Not their fault! The blame goes to one of the weakest scripts in hindi movies this year. Vivek Oberoi gave us an impeccable and powerful performance in "Shootout at Lokhandwala" last week. Had he not acted in FAF, his career would have picked up. Here, he is stupid. Moreover, he looks like an idiot too (all thanks to the cap he wears throughout the movie which makes him look like Himesh). Shahid does quite well in his entry-scene. He does a "dhoom" but instead of a bike, he has a bi-cycle here! He looks very cute and dances very well to the foot-tapping numbers. But when it comes to acting, he is a big zero (atleast here, if not in other movies).
He still has a SRK hangover (No wonder Kareena is dating him. For those who have in late, Bebo is a self-proclaimed huge fan of the King Khan) and he tries to imitate Akshaye Kumar in comic scenes. Ofcourse, he fails to do so. The chocolate-y guy-next-door has to prove his mettle for acting or he will be left far behind in the rat-race for numero uno in the hindi film industry (I refuse to call it "bollywood"). Lets talk about Sunny "paaji" now. The punjabi "munda" does his "dhisum-dhisum" well and also delivers his famous "yeh dhaai kilo kaa haath..." dialogue. Lets not talk about his acting skills. Gone are his "Damini", "Ghayal", "Ghatak" or even "Gadar" days. Ayesha Takia looks very sweet. She has a lovely smile. Thats it! She is wasted here. So are Sharmila, Ompuri, Vijay Raaz, Sameera, Arbaaz, Jackie, Gulshan, Asrani and Sunil Pal. The direction is awful. The only good thing about FAF are the groovy tracks. Shahid is definitely the best dancer around (I cant term Hrithiks pelvic movements as "dance". He jumps around like a monkey. Govinda is too old now but he is a good dancer too).
Watch the song-videos at home and give FAF a miss. You wont regret doing so. FAF is as bad as the forgotten "Deewane huey paagal". If you found the latter one funny, hats off to you....go for this one too! Best of luck for watching it. One piece of advise for the intelligentsia - If you are planning to watch FAF, dont forget to carry headache pills with you.
