Had planned a upgrade for my 7 year old esteem and had almost zeroed in on the Honda City. Just to ensure, I dont miss out on other new options, took a test drive of the Fiesta 1.6 & 1.4 models.
Frankly, I wasnt much impressed with the 1.4. The power was similar to the esteem and the black headlight turned me off compared to the gorgeous headlights on the 1.6.
The drive on 1.6 is fabulous. Name it and the fords and have got everything into this car. My only complaint is about the plastics used. Looks cheap. But if you dont mind that, its a cool 1.5 lacs (Ford gave us a 50k relationship pricing discount for my company) lower than the City.
Must admit, city is a little more comfortable than the fiesta - especially the rear seats. But where Ford scores is on its Duratec engine - City ZX models just cant compete with this monster on the road. Anyways, 1.5 lacs is too large a dough to throw away for a few millimeters of extra space of the City.
Agreed, city might give a better mileage but the cost of ownership on the ford is lower plus consider the payback for the 1.5 lacs that you will have to cough up extra for that big H sign in the front, its not worth it.
Other highlights are the Aircon....they have tried a new aircon system and it works well. chills u in no time. Suspensions are good...potholes are dispatched with a muted thud. The Music system is excellent but alas there is no MP3...but the quality of speakers & the music system is great.
Go Fida. Looks to be a great one from the ford stable yet again after the Ikon.
