Ford Fiesta

I got my fiesta 1.4EXI 2 weeks back. I wanted to buy a good entry level sedan and shortlisted 3 : ford ikon flair, accent GLS, and fiesta 1.4EXI(didn’t check aveo since I got bad feedback about the gear shift and performance from my friends).

Ikon was rulled out because once u switch on the AC the power drop is considerable.

Accent was good in all respect-gear shift, handling(though I had overstreeing sometimes while taking the corners), overall I was impressed by the ride quality. Was about to book this car, at the last minute decided to test drive fiesta and I just went crazy for this car. It was too good.

Well heres the good things I like about it after my last 2 weeks experience :

1. Good visibility.

   
   




2. Seating is very comfortable- seat height , placing of the gear knob and other controls.

   
   




3. gear shift is very smooth

   
   




4. power steering is well balanced(not very light like accent).

   
   




5. Power and pick-up was great for

   
   

   0-40km/hr to 100km/hr

   
   

   But if you are already at say 60-70Km/hr and try to reach 100km/hr then

   
   

   it takes hell lot of time to reach that speed. I struggled couple of time to

   
   

   overtake when I was already at 70km/hr.

   
   




6. Switch ON AC and u will find negligible difference in power. I use to switch OFF my AC in my old car to get instant power, that won’t work with fiesta.

   
   




7. leg room at the back is too good compare to accent. Back seat higher and comfortable than accent.

   
   




8. DTE(distance to empty) is very usefull feature.

   
   




9. Overall the feel of the car itself is just great. You feel u r driving some luxuary sedan. Car definitly feels solid.

   
   




10. Milage : in city I am getting around 13.7(without ac) and 10.6(with AC full time).

    
    

    I used DTE to calculate the milage. Will try the full tank method and check the

    
    

    milage later.

    
    

Some negative points I noted :

1. Suspension is great but bit noisy on bad roads. I can’t compare it with other cars since I have not driven the other cars on such a bad road. Maybe others will be equally noisy on same road.

   
   




2. 70km to 100km/hr is very slow even with a gear down.

   
   

I would definitly recommand this for city driving. I as not impressed with its highway driving because of the pickup issue after you have crossed 70Km/hr. Within city the pickup was gr8 since most of the vehicles will be crawling at 40-50Km/hr.
