I faced an issue and below is the letter I have sent to Ford customer care. "The Ford Fiesta Exi was delivered on 16th July 07 and I am very happy with the Car.but I faced a serious problem. During the climb to the second floor parking space of my office, the car lost power suddenly and it stopped. The distance to empty meter was showing 95 kilometres and there was no low fuel light. Repeated attempts to start the car failed. Then I moved the car in reverse in the circular winding climb to a position where it is somewhat level and the car started. Again took the car up and found that the power was loosing at around the same area, but somehow managed to reach the top floor. (Please note that I have been driving up the climb with my Maruthi 800 for more than 2 years and I never experienced such a thing) I had similar experience of loosing power a month ago on level road, but with distance to empty at 55kilometres only.
Cochin is crowded with traffic jams and is afraid if similar things happen on railway over bridges, then I wont be able to reverse the vehicle with bumper to bumper traffic.Wish to know whether there is a solution to this except telling me to keep a higher level of fuel in tank. Is it a design fault of tank shape, suction pipe position, fuel pump, tank position or anything like this? Is there a booster pump which supply fuel to the fuel injection pump? I have seen similar messages on websites like mouthshut.com about fiesta loosing power. Pl look into the matter and I am sure you will come out with a solution soon.Hope to get a reply soon."
Local dealer took the vehicle & confirmed the problem. They changed the pump in the fuel tank after getting it from company and I tested it on the climb with meter reading of 80 km to empty without any problem. I am quite happy with the prompt action by customer care and accurate fault finding by the technical team.
