After prolonged research (incl extensive consumer reviews) I bought the Fiesta 1.4exi (base model) a couple of weeks back.
Reasons for purchase over aveo:
Although the aveo looked better furnished on the inside, the Fiesta had a certain understated class to it.
The gear shift of the aveo was a big no no it felt like a video game joystick used to maneouvre a battle tank in all directions.
The gear shift of the fiesta although not as crisp as the Honda city still gave it that firm confident feel.
When it comes to the drive, the Fiesta felt better then and now post 1300 kms in city & highway driving I’m glad I picked the Fiesta.
It’s given me an average of 12 so far with a/c prior to first servicing (which has probably surprised me more than anyone else)
On the flipside, a rear defogger is not available in the base version as against the aveo. With its powerful ac it does prove to be a trouble at times, with the rear windscreen getting fogged.
Also if you do not purchase the music system from Ford & purchase it from the market the electrical warranty becomes void which is quite a bummer since it really limits one’s choice for a system.
The dealer Shaman was in fact instrumental in my purchase, they not only provided excellent information on the intricacies of the car, but were also extremely subtle in their follow ups (unlike some other dealers who pester 24*7). They gave 8 day timeline for delivery & bettered it by a day. Kudos for excellent service so far.
