Other Cars owned earlier: Maruti Zen(petrol), Tata Indigo dicor, Ford Fiesta(petrol)
Car & Distance traveled: Ford Figo Petrol purchased 2 months back, have traveled 2500 KM’s in Hyderabad with AC on mostly(Heater/AC).
Accessories – got a fog lamp fitted while buying the car
Mileage: 11.5-12 Kmpl
Pro’s:
a) Car is smooth – The sound insulation is very good, the shock absorbers functions really well, no rattles or noises in the car
b) Handles great – handles very well at high speeds as well – tried driving at 120+ Kmph on outer ring road, and the stable feel from the car was great
c) Seating Space – Seating space is excellent with great legroom – I am a six footer with brothers who are 6 footers themselves, and we could all fit in comfortably together in the car. Can accommodate 5 people reasonably well.
d) Boot Space – for a hatchback, the boot space is great
e) AC is excellent – The AC is very powerful and is very good(tried the heater as well when Hyderabad was going through a cold wave of 8 degrees)
f) Finish – the car has very good finish with some luxurious looking interiors and lots of small receptacles to hold various knick knacks
Con’s:
a) Power – the car is sluggish in 3rd gear and will not be zippy in city traffic. Constant downshift to 2nd gear with revving is required to manage in city traffic
b) Mileage – other hatchbacks offer better mileage
c) Low Ground Clearance – The car with 3-4 passengers sinks down and becomes low slung. It is a problem when approaching badly constructed speed breakers with the body regularly scraping against the speed breakers
Ambivalent:
a) Sound system is all right while not being amazing etc.
Not known:
a) Servicing - don’t know about servicing quality yet, plan to give it for servicing sometime next week. will try and update post the Service
My Opinion
I was looking for a Sub Rs 5 Lakh car with lots of space for both passengers and for luggage. I was not too worried about the mileage bit and hence Figo fit in perfectly, other hatchbacks such as i10, Ritz etc fell short somewhere or the other in my limited criteria.
I was not too keen on Tata cars as I had a really bad showroom and servicing experience in my previous Tata car and hence did not want to go back to them.
I think Figo is a great Value For Money car if you are willing to adjust your driving style to managing a lot more on 2nd gear and manage to drive consciously over speed breakers.
