The launch of Ford Figo shows the obsessions of MNC car companies with small cars in india. Figo has been tailor made forIndia, suiting our road conditions.Indian is the hottest place for selling small cars. Maruti suzuki alone sells 1millon cars out of which 250000 is ALTO.
Figo is one handsome looking cars among other hatch backs. It has a very good stance and road presence. Head light and tail light complement each other.
Interior space is quite good and driving posture is typical ford, comfortable and racy. Instruments are well laidout and simple to use. Steering feels perfect. Reat seat is comfortable and has enough headroom.
Its based on fiesta platform, so good ride and handling is assured.
But the engine doesnt complement with the chassis. 71BHP petrol seems underpowered at times and lack grunt at high rpm. 69 BHP diesel is a much safer bet and offers lot of torque has a long powerband.
Low rpm torque is good which is helpful in city riding but it isnt a highway car. Short gearing takes care of bumper to bumper driving. Dash board isn’t everyone’s liking. Selection of dashboard colour is verypoor too.
Non provision of rear power windows is really stupid.
Ride quality is very good and precise steering inspires confidence. Braking could have been better though.
Gearshifting is good too.
Its a great bang for ur buck!
Pros:
Good looks and styling. The car definitely looks more expensive than it is. Its curves and lines are well drawn and gives the inpression of american car(it is one).
Nice and precise steering. The driving position is also very good. The steering feedback is good too evenon bumpy roads.
Frugal engine. The engine is moderately poweful for a small.
good handling and driving dynamics. It has inherited its dynamic from fiesta. Foord cars had always been a driver’s car and this one is no exception.
Sufficiently powerful AC cools the cabin in no time. Though I have been driving this car in rainy season only. Its test during peak summer will be the real test.
Highway car character. This car has lot of potential to be a higways car, sadly engine isnt tat great.
Cheaper spares compared to other ford cars.
Cons:
Very thirsty. This car gives poor fuel efficiency for such a small engine. Even 80 BHP i10 or even i20 gives much better fuel economy.
Poor AS service and costilier maintenance.
Build quality not upto the mark.
Ground clearance seems low after 4 ppl sit in the car.
Underpowered engine. There is nothing to tell about its engine. It pulls away slower than alto.
Dashboard colour is not to everyone’s liking.
