In my attempt to get hold of a good new car, had a test drive of Ford Figo. Since I had a TD of Chevy Beat, and Ritz, comparison of Figo with these two models was but natural. In regards to elements like pick-up, space, the drivability comfort, to me, Figo is much better then Chevy Beat.
When it comes to on -road pricing, Chevy Beat top end gives you all those next generation high-end features that too in much lesser price then when compared to Figo top-end model. Surprisingly, Figos top-end model does not provide POWER Windows to the rear seats. The plastic quality in the interiors of Figo may be value for money but again to me its damn cheap. However still from drivability comfort, Figo is soothing then Beat. Its sad that Beat though has refreshing, aggressive looks and out-of the way styling, it really lacks on the performance aspect!
As far as the drive of Figo is concerned, the visibility is too good, suspension is good and the ride is smoother then Beat. However during the climb the car is sluggish. The dashboard is okay, especially the coral color look - its debatable. Last but not the least, the mileage, in city it provides 12km while on highway, havent checked yet.
Overall, Ford has provided a refreshing, better if not best option car then the otherwise popular Maruti hatchbacks. What remains in question is its After sales service, And moreover its petrol mileage parameters which doesnt sound too good when compared with Beat or even Ritz. When it comes to getting a car in India, buying non-maruti brand still remains a partial if not full risk to any potential customer. Because, After sales service, mileage and re-sale value elements still matter a lot!
