Ford Ikon Flair - Really a Josh Machine

Ford Ikon Flair - Really a Josh Machine

I am a Software Professional working for a CMMI Level 5 Company and I bought a Ford Ikon Flair 1.3 Recently. First of all, I m proud of myself to be a owner of a Ford Ikon Flair which is ’’One of the Best Car’’ in its Segment/Class. I love my Ford Ikon for its Exterior Look, Air-O-Dynamic design and its well furnished Interiors.

Here is my Review and Tips for those who have planned to buy a new Car in very near future.

Get On .....!!!

How I bought this Josh Machine?

I started my Car hunt 4 months before.

Infact I had logged on to MouthShut.com more than 100 times to compare Cars and to read many Reviews.

Its a very useful Web-Site that I had ever seen and every new Buyer has to visit this Site atleast Once.

Initially, I looked for a Small Car that suits my requirements as well as my Budget.

As we are five in our family, Maruti 800, Zen and Alto were moved off from the List.

Also, I used to go for long tours more than 5 times/Year.

As Hundai Santro is not a Suitable vehicle for Long Trips and that too will occupy 2 Adult + 1 Kid in its Rear Seat, it was moved off from the List.

Getz - Good one, but toooo much costly for a Car in its Segment

Swift - Good Looking Front View and I didnt like the back side View.

And also Too costly for a Car in its Segment.

Fiat Palio - A Good Car and good value for the money you invest.

But it lacks Service/Stations and marketing too :-)

TATA Indica was the one which really suits my requirements and it would easily occupy 5 Adults in it.

Also, the TATA Indica has a very good value for the money you Invest on it.

But, one important thing we should consider before buying a B-Segment/SmallCar!

Here it is!!!!

Almost 80-90% of the B-Segment/SmallCar Owners, always intended to go for the Next Segment once they bought them. This is true because, the difference between these two segments is hardly around 1 to 1.25 Lakhs and obviously with more comfort and luxuries worth of that difference in the later.

Hence, I thought early and chose a Sedan wisely.

If you are able to afford a bit more, you can ealily go for a Sedan.

Finally Decided:

After a long Analysis and Review, all except Indigo and Ford Ikon were Moved off from my List.

As the above 2 were the only cars which suits my requirements and ’’My budget’’ as well.

Indigo was moved out of Picture as the Exterior Look and Interior Finishing is incomparable to Ikon.

While compare to Indigo, Ikon is giving following more...

  1. A Equally good Mileage

  2. Has very Good Ramcon Engine

  3. Has very good External Look (where Indigo is deficient in Look)

  4. Well furnished Interiors and Nicely Designed Dash Board

General Tips

  1. Dont go for a Diesel Car if you are going to run it less than 7, 000 Kms for an Year

  2. Read as many reviews as you can, before buying a Car

  3. Compare the Rates and Quality of Accessories amoung the Dealers and try to Rock down the Offer.

My First Long Trip on Highways

Once my Flair got delivered, I had taken the Josh machine for a Long Trip directly from the Point of delivery.

I checked the Mileage after 350Kms. It was 14.43Kms/Litre.

I strictly fixed the SpeedoMeter Pointer to point 85Kms almost throughout the Run.

Pretty happy with the Mileage.

Pros:

  1. Appearance

Very Good Exterior Look - Ford Ikon is one of the best good Looking Sedan which makes the Owner Pride.

Excellent Air-O-Dynamic design which really helps even the Novice drivers to have a clear look at the Roads.

Well furnished Interiors

  1. Leg Room

Flair has a very Good Leg Room and hence it suits strain-less Long Trips.

Especially Leg-Room is Good in the Front and better Room at the Rear.

  1. High Speed @ Highways

I tried running the Flair on Chennai NH-47 6 lanes Highway @ 160Kms/Hr.

It was an amazing experience and the Josh machine Ran Smoothly with its Full Control on the Road.

We didnt feel any Vibration or Jerk and we felt as if we were @ 100 Kms/Hr.

Hats-Off to Flair for its very good Control over the Road,

Wherein the other Sedans in its segment is bit Struggling above 140Kms/Hr.

  1. Air-Condition

Its the only car which is providing a very good A/C for rear passengers in its Segment.

Individual adjustable A/C blower for Middle, left and right rear Passengers.

Cons:

  1. Bad Ground clearance

You have to completely stop the Flair before crossing the Speed-Breaker.

Anyway, all the Sedans in its segment has the same problem except Ambassador.

So, be very careful @ Speed-Breakers and Rocky Roads.

  1. Need to have a Boot Opener

You Cant Open the Boot from being inside the Flair.

Wherein, the other Ikons above Flair have this facility

  1. Poor Quality Plastic for Dash Board

The Quality of the Dash Board Plastic is very Poor and it doesnt sustain even small Scratches.

The Plastic Quality really makes the Good Appearance of Dash Board to Worse.

I Advise Ford India to Improve the Quality of the Interior Plastic.

Review Summary:

If your Requirement is as below, then you can very well go this Sedan ’’Ford Ikon Flair 1.3’’

  1. Budget Around - 5 Lakhs

  2. Good Looking and Average Mileage

I think my review is useful to you. All the best for your Next Car

Cheers,

Vrs
