This is my first ever blog on automobiles. I bought Ikon tdci in april after comparing it with Logan and desire.
Desire no doubt give contemporary looks, good engine, good interior and fair comfort. Logan gives me feel good wen I c a logan standing next to any big 3 box car on road, u can compare this damn car with some of the BIGG cars on indian road at a much lesser cost.
Ikon was some thing that I wanted to buy due to its looks, though its a 10 year old model.Main reason for buying ikon was the cost at which it came, 624000, with remote boot opener, reverse sensor, sunfilm, autocop, chrome tail gate handle and chrome cover for the exhaust pipe.all these with tested fiesta engine.Yes, important point to mention here is that I got 19 k corporate discount.
Post ownership experiance:Before I begin, it important to mention that I also own a wagon R and have driven it for 40k km.Trust me wagon R is just awesome car wen it comes to its engine performance and refinement.since this is not a post abt Wagon R I wont mention much about it, though I have a lot to speak on it..
Ikon TDCI: Hmm... the noise.. u can understand coming out of 1.1 silent petrol engine n then driving diesel.. it does make u feel the noise.... a big difference for me.....but then I experience noise in desire and logan as well... probably thats the ways diesel guys R......n thats not problem of ikon....I choose to buy diesel car so I have to bear the noise...vibration... yes..... on gear knob u do feel it..
Engine..... I think there is difference in the way a petrol engine and a diesel engine responds.petrols are a real smooth and seamless performance over the revs.. however diesel is not responding uniformly across the revs. again not a fault of ikon... thats how the diesels are...Yes ikon does well in handling..... tdci has good pick up..
But at times on high inclination with full ac and fully loaded with 5 person, , there is BIG drop in pick up...I have just driven for 700 KM in bangalore, all during peak hrs, bumper to bumper..... and getting around 16 km/ltr... not sure if its good mileage.....will post a better review next time after my first service... my car is just 17 days old as of today....and yes I bought from Metro ford.. they r good and profession .. SO FAR.....
