Ford Ikon when launched in India created a lot of excitement.It looks were different from others and was easy to recoginze among others.It was a performance oriented machine and the 1.6 LTR engine was aptly called Josh Machine.
Completely a drivers car and for those die hard driving enthusiasts .Thy launched the 1.3 ltr baby josh car to take on the Esteem and the Siennas.That too did well
BUt slowly the Ikon has started showing it’s age and is likely to be replaced , even though the Anniversary version is still a good purchase.
The 1.6 ltr faces stiff competition from the more expensive Honda City which unlike the older version is a Complete Family Sedan with Space-Age sharp looks.The ikon can never be a great family car-the limited space inside the Ikon coupled with it’s low seating are all sports car features.The recently lauched Getz will give a stiff fight to the Ikon in terms of interior comfort .
The Ikon’s great pickup and good ground clearance are it’s good points and is good car for long drives but that with the 1.6 ltr one only.
Ikon’s mileage too is way less than the City’S
The ikon should be on it’s way back or go for a make up really-BY the way the grille on the High end ikon1.6 is better than those on 1.3 car which looks poverty spec
