In India Ford introduced (first time ) Escort in 2 versions in Diesel and also in Petrol. They were doing very well; in comparison with Opel. but suddenly they came to know there is more sale of Esteem & Accent in India; although they had price 2 lacs less than Escort!! Suddenly without taking any market survey they stopped Escort and start promoting new Ikon with less powerful engine than Escort and smaller in size.; just to compete with mid-segments cars like Accent and Esteem!!! Fools they lost all cutomers of Escort; who swithed to CityHonda!!
Ikon is Petrol and Diesel also. 2 types of engines with same body and almost same interior; i.e. Flare with 1.2 ; Zxi 1.5 . and diesel with 1.8 engine.But the prices they mention you also get ’’Accent-gvs; & Esteem-vx’’. Accent looks to me a better car;in performance; legspace; comforts also.Accent looks more modern & speeding is faster.Esteem-vx belongs to ’’Maruti’’;so naturaly their services are much better; because of very big infrastructure.Only problem with Esteem is that it is not ’’fuel-efficient’’.There are many colors you can choose.But technicaly ’’Accent’’is advanced;that is what we want;when we pay more than 6 lacs for a car comfort.Everybody’s finger will point to Accent. Ikon engine 1.8 is powerful; makes noise too much; so JOSH; so sad; even Ambassador is JOSH!!!!
Old record of ’’ford’’ is very bad in India.They had ’’lovely Diesel version-’’Escort;a good Indianised car;just stopped manufacturing because they wnated to compete with mid-segment cars like ’’Esteem’’.(which was a car of choice that time).In such competition you lose quality;& also lose efficiency in sevices.
I will not advise people to buy this; because Ford is taking cutomers very lightly.Their agents Wasan;Wama;Shakti etc. are not efficient...!!
