I am a registered member of the MAX Hospital (Sec 29, Noida), but that day my wife suggested why don’t we take an appointment in Fortis (Sec 62, Noida) which is just a walking distance from our place. So I called up the Fortis for appointment with the Gynecology doctor, but I was told by their phone attendant that you don’t need an appointment as you can just walk in between 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM tomorrow. I was really surprised by this that there is no prior appointment needed. But even than I took my wife next day to the Fortis, and reached there right at 10:20 AM. As soon as I took the car into the parking, it gave me a feeling something is not really right here (which I realized later that I was absolutely right).
Parking was mess, totally unorganized. Cars were parked in middle of the way. I was forced the push 2 cars with my bare hands to find some place for parking. While I was doing this hospital guards and parking attendants were busy chatting under a tree. Finally I was able to park my car and went to the OPD reception; there I find huge line at reception. We didn’t have any other option, we joined one of line, and then I realized how chaotic the reception was – computer systems not working properly there, I saw some of the guys sitting at the reception banging at the keyboards in frustration and sometimes even issuing manual receipts in cases when the system hangs. Finally after 25 minutes we got our number, the guy at the reception told us that first we have to get ourselves registered before they can issue an appointment. So we filled the registration form and we were asked to join the line again, that was totally unrealistic. Even then we joined the line again and got our number after 10 minutes.
Finally we got the doctors appointment, by that time it was already 11.00 AM. We went straight to the doctor’s room; again there was huge line of patients lined up there. We showed the doctor’s appointment slip to the lady at the reception outside doctor’s room, at that time we realized that we have been issued an appointment for 12.50 PM, almost 2 hrs later. What do the guy at the OPD reception thought, don’t we have any other work to do, only thing we have is to waste our half a day in this idiotic hospital? How can he even think that we will wait in this dirty hospital for 2 hrs for one doctor’s appointment? Again we didn’t have any other option but to stand there quietly in the hospital alley, as all waiting patients’ seats were full. After standing there for an hour we realized that the doctor with whom we were issued an appointment haven’t arrived yet. When we asked this to the lady at the reception, she suggested that we can consult the junior doctor which is available right now.
According to me, her suggestion was totally idiotic - have we paid the full amount to consult some junior resident doctor? They even don’t have any intimation when the original doctor when will she arrive. How unorganized !! Again we continued waiting for the original doctor, who arrived at 12:40 PM, almost one and half hour late. And as soon as the doctor arrive that reception lady start sending those patients first who were older fortis patients, and seen this doctor earlier. She didn’t even follow the patient’s appointment time schedule. This act really pissed me off. I went straight to the OPD reception, narrated the whole episode to the person in-charge there and made written complaint about the behavior of their staff and disorganized manner and finally got my doctor’s appointment cancelled. I bet this is the first and last time I have visited Fortis, and will never ever suggest anyone to visit Fortis. I don’t know about quality of doctor’s there, as I didn’t get a chance to interact with any doctor in Fortis.
But in short, Fortis’s staff is totally disorganized, only go there if you have full day to spare and lot of patience. As soon as I get out of Fortis, I called up MAX hospital, got the same day appointment, reach there 5 mins before appointment, consulted the doctor, got 2 tests done (including ultrasound) and out of the hospital within one hour. That’s called QUALITY OF SERVICE, which Fortis can never provide.
